Okay so I am having an issue where certain skins for V4 are showing up black as oil, when I renders they ...seem to be okay but is there a way to fix this?

Yes... I tired to look in the manual...

I am sure there could be many reasons for this. However as a start you could open the material room and click on the Avanced tab. There you will see the shaders for the figure. What is plugged into the Diffuse_Color input of the PoserSurface? It should be an image map. The Diffuse_Value may be 0 depending on the shader.

If this is in preview it can be caused by using sss with OpenGL with certain graphic drivers, if this is the case try switching to SreeD as your preview renderer (right click over preview window and the option is at the bottom of the menu)

If this is a firefly render this can happen if you set-up for indirect lighting only (i.e. no spot/direct lights) but don't enable it in the render options.
