Subject: Genesis 2 and V4 clothing...questions

** PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD ON TOPIC.  The last one I started got so side-tracked it didn't even have anything to do with the original question.

QUESTION:

I'm a PoserPro2014 user...I have Genesis 2 installed with her morphs package.  I want to use my old V4 clothing on her.  I know the autofit features in DAZStudio make that possible in that program, but I want to do it in Poser.  Does anyone have a method or instructions on how to do that?

I think wardrobe wizard will do that

Or you could try the fitting room - it depends on how the cloth was made whether that is succesful or not. I only went the other way with mixed results

Doesn't PP14 come with an autofit program by PhilC?  I know he has a tool like that even if not.

Have you looked into Xdresser as a second option?

PhilC already chimed in on this in the previous posting.  NO...his software does not include support for Gen2 figures.  Xdresser does not either.

In that case I can't think of anything without using DS a little.  My best guess using just poser is learn to use magnets.  But that's just a guess.

There is a work around.

IF !!!!

  • if the clothing can be exported from DS or Poser as an object file.
  • if the exported object file is fully welded.
    The key here is : Welded. the object file has to be fully welded.

Then you can import that object file back into Poser and use the fitting room to do the fitting, autogroup, and rigging.

It is a hit and run, hit and miss, depends a LOT on the quality of the initial clothing.

I prefer to take the object file through Blender to do the initial fit, and then use the fitting room to finetune.
=> Sometimes back through Blender if the clothing has pockets, buttons or other specails.

The new morph brushes are also extremely handy to fine tune clothing.

I just did a quick conversion of the DAZ V4 Bodysuit to Genesis 2 Female in the Fitting Room, which I had never used before.  I adjusted the thighs of the suit 3.5 degrees out and scaled the shoulders down a bit because the sleeves were a tad long. I just ran Tighten using the default settings and exported the figure with the option to regroup.  Not perfect, but a pretty good start considering the 5 minutes or so I spent on it.  Note that the resulting clothing needs to be set to Unimesh Skinning (top of figure menu).

 

An interesting consequence; the purple background is not a background, but the foot of a gaint purple Genesis2  figure hundreds of feet tall; no idea why that is there! :scared:  It was not there after saving and reopening the file...
