Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 18 10:25 pm)
Agreed. I've tried several alternatives, and Anim8or is the only one that worked for me. It's also more useful than some fairly expensive programs like Amorphium, when it comes to creating custom 3D shapes. Anim8or has a rather odd style of interface, but once you "catch the idea" it's remarkably easy. Be sure to download the tutorial on Poser morphs from the Anim8or site; just follow that, and you'll be morphing after an hour of learning time! (You'll also need UVMapper to convert the .OBJ files from Poser-style to Anim8or-style.)

If you haven't learned how to use the magnets and deformers built into Poser4, it's well worth your effort. Sometimes it's easier to make a particular morph, or put finishing touches on one with magnets. That's particularly true if you want a symmetrical effect across the centerline, because it's easy to set up a second magnet, copy and paste the settings, then change for example a +x value to -x. Magnets look intimidating at first, but it's the cheapest, fastest way to learn about morphs. There are some good tutorials around to get you started.

I have some tutorials on using magnets on my site. I too think it is well worth the time to learn the magnets.Attached Link: http://www.awakemm.com/poserarcana/tutorials/gs/gs03/index.html
That's Michael. Check out this tutorial link at PoserArcana. Z_Brush isn't cheap, but it is the coolest new paint/morph program around. And easy. Z-Brushes site has a free download. Though you won't be able to import meshes. You can see it yourself and decide. -Anton-Anton, creator of

Anim8or is good for simple things, but I also recommend Amorphium as being quite intuitive for more "organic" work. Amorphium 1.0 was a cover CD program on Computer Arts Magazine recently. The downside is that it's quite complex to get the target mesh into and out of Amorphium; there's a tutorial at Morph World. You get used to it, though.
