Subject: Exporter Question

I am looking at getting the exporter module for Vue 2014.

I know that the object export is very limited, you can only export unlocked models.

I'm mostly insterested in exporting trees and plants though. Is the tree export similarly limited, or can you export any tree?

I want to export "hero" trees for use in poser since poseing is tought in Vue.

I suggest you do your posing in poser, then import them into Vue. Vue has a substantially better render engine then the native renderer in Poser. Most people who use both programs do it this way.

That's what I want to do, but I need to get a foreground (hero) tree into poser so that it is easier to pose the figures in/around the tree.

Then I'll import the scene into vue and add more plants that the characters aren't directly interacting with.

So my question still stands, can you export any plant or do they have to be "unlocked"?

Yes you can export trees, but you have to plug in the alpha map manually in poser so the leafs look ok. The image shows one of the trees I purchased on C3D, exported it as obj file and imported it into Poser. It worked fine, haven't tried locked trees though.

I'm not sure if I do it the way you want to do it. You may save yourself some money and render the tree only in Vue against a black background and use the image as an alpha plane in Poser to pose the characters around. If you manage to that, you can save yourself a lot of money.

but if you decide to go with the export module, then export the trees as low poly as you can, so it is easy to handle in Poser. Import them into to poser, but do not import them back into Vue, ude the original tree there. It will be of a much better quality and render faster then the imported version, as well as demand less memory :)

EDIT: I've tried some of the locked trees I purchased and they both export fine too, no problem at all. If I try to export a locked object, I get the locked version notice and cannot export. With none of the trees I get that though and can export them, even though they're supposed to be locked ;)

One little note..... if you buy the exported module and whenever the next Vue is released, keep in mind that if you upgrade then, you will have to upgrade your module(s) seperately as well to be able to use them with that new version of Vue.

I'm not sure which version you have, but sometimes moving up to the next version can be less expensive in the long run. I went from Studio to Complete for that very reason. It was a lot less expensive to go from Vue 10 Complete to Vue 11 Complete to Vue 2014 Complete then to go from 10 Studio to 11 Studio to 2014 Studio and update the modules each time as well. You may want to get your calculator out and check what is the best option in the long run :)
