Hi all.

Been lookiing for a good poseable Sphinx.

Many years ago I got PhilC's Katrina a sphink created by splicing Posette and the Poser lion I think.

It was flawed then but as Poser has advanced except for a fix to bring the joints function up to date to work in Poser7, Phil has not been updating her. And of course, neither has anyone else either updated her or created a nicer, prettier and more moder or realistic version we could use with the new more advanced figures.

I still use her....grudgingly...in fact I went to Posette Forever and tried getting other morphs for the Posette face and upper body for her but she desperatey needs new UV mapping so better texturing can be done to her lion and human body parts seperately.

Does anyone know if there is another Sphinx-like figure out there in the PoserVerse I can finally substitute for this though lovely in her day Katrina, long in the tooth today?

Oh BTW here is a prettied up version since she was last updated by Phil. I added Angelyna Wings and hair from daz in case you don't remember her or don't know what I speak of.

I'm still using her as well but a more recent version especially weight-mapped and based off V4 would be awesome!   However, I seem to remember she's by Nerd3D and not PhilC.

No I think Nerd had her on his site but pretty sure it was Phil who created her (But hell my mind is a sive so I am probably W.R.O.N.G. again!). In fact not too long ago an update went out to fix some problems with joints in newer versions of Poser (poor kitty was exploding if you tried messing with her dials) and it did so from a request from me at the time.

I also posted this request, that Valander created a similar figure but not sure from what base figures so I am trying to track him down to see how I can get my greedy little cramped Poser user mitties on it. There was apparently a set of male and female figures created to be offered via DAZ and they were turned down but noone really knows why. The thumbs I saw there were not HOT compared to what DAZ is offering now but i am sure they would have worked in Poser 7 and they were newere and smoother than the now VERY LONG IN THE FANG Katrina!

You wouldn't by any chance know how to get a hold of Valander?

I have been trawling the web and especially at Deviant for such images. The ptoblem is everyone views and reinterprets these fantasy figures differently and re-creates them not only according to their visions but their skill sets.

It took me years to find mythological figures that just "FIT" my visions of what I wanted a Centaur to be, or the Medusa, or Pan, or the Minotaur or a Harpy or.......

THere always hurdles in these creations. I wish I could just wrap this old damn brain grain around creating my own stuff and I would be happier than a fat lazy Piggie of Posah Usah but that will never happen. So like everything in life I gotta settle and beg everyone to please fix this or make that better! Very tiresome after a while and turns content creators off!

Maybe in the next life?

I would message Valandar through the DAZ forums.   I'm pretty sure he visits there regularly and will see it.

By the way I found these two old threads, seems we both had issues with her in the past but I can't recall if I ever did get the corrected files.   It seems you have to give personal info to get freebies from Nerd's site.

Yep you were right dear. I am sorry I didn't mean to doubt you. Not doubting you would require doubting myself more and I am already doubted out over my physical and mental state. Bummer....again! But thanks for kindly setting brain matter straight!  ;)

Oh my, no need to apologise,  I went looking for the threads to find a download since I didn't see it on Nerd's site and then checked PhilC's.  I'm like you in that respect, doubting myself, so I go through everything again and again :) 

Maybe a sympathetic modeler will take kindly to us and make a Sphinx for V4 after all!

I saw it at DAZ thread. I think I could work with that depending on the quality of the textyres, face and body morphs and expressions and whatever accessories are available are available for it. I wonder why DAZ rejected it and if it works exclusively in D?S which will leave me high and dry or iterations of Poser?

I tried figuring out how to contact Valandat at DAZ but can't figure out how to find a contact PM button for reaching him> Things are always more difficult for me there than here.   :(

Actually looking at it closer tail seems a bit lower res...faceted and lumpy. That face leaves something to be desired looks like it is on Qualudes and not very terrifying. If there are no morphs to fix that I am not sure I would love it. What about the female? Breast size and movement morphs? Fat and thin, young and old, pregnant morphs? Her face is pretty expressionless and shovel shaped. Also not very frightening as it is. W/o those morphs I speak of she would be a waste to spend cash on. Anyone know?

You don't need to find a contact PM button.   You can go to the DAZ forum and send a private message to any member as long as you know their forum name.   If you look just above the forum threads you'll see a PM (private message) icon and next should be a link that says Private Messages.   Clicking that will take you to a page where you can see any messages you received and on the top right you'll see another link Compose New Message.  From there on it 's pretty self-explanatory.

Valandar frequents the forum so you should be able to reach him.

Hmm the male Sphinx is more Egyptian while I would prefer the Greek one which was female.  I guess you can't make everyone happy :)

If the morphs are good it doesn't matter what it looks like out of the box which I suspect the mages shown are just that. Throguh good morphs and phenomes and textures a lot can be done. The look as is is too dead pan and therfore lacking personality and character one can't really tell where they're from except the marble quarry.  LOL
