The book I am illustrating needs a rag doll, which has to look handmade. I couldn't find one so I made one. This is the first time I ever rigged a humanoid figure myself from scratch.

GOOD Job Nanette.

But?
You make me smile from ear to ear.
Does she sing?
Does she play an instrument?

Last post from you was " I am gonna slow Poser down and concentrate on my music. . .

Music is "do", but the above is "doll". The difference is "ll". LOL.

Nice doll to sing a do.

LOL.
Yeah, I know, I need to slow down my coffee consumption. :-)

She reminds my a little of Raggedy Ann, but not so much that one would think you copied her. Great job.

Ah thank you!

What happened was, my mother surprised me. She is 84, and we have done a children's book together before. It is called "The tent on the square", or in Afrikaans "Die tent op die plein", by Marie Tredoux. I translated it into English and did the illustrations in Poser. This first book is also a song and includes the sheet music. You can see it on Amazon, if you look at the Kindle version you can look inside the book.

So yes, here I am working on an instrumental arrangement and my mother phones.  She has finished another book. I knew she was working on some stories, but last time I spoke to her, she had done two chapters. Now there are ten. She has been sitting up at night writing them - she can't type, so the manuscript is in longhand. So, because she is old and mega-talented and I am so proud of her, I want to get her new book illustrated, translated and published as soon as possible. This book doesn't have a song to go with it - not at the moment anyway. The Afrikaans title is "Flentonsie", which means a little girl who is always underfoot and asks too many questions. I am still struggling with how to translate that word into English without writing a whole sentence - there doesn't seem to be an equivalent.

Would something like "The Annoying Little Girl" work? Certainly not an exact translation, but I think it communicates a similar concept.

I was thinking of "Little Miss Endlessquestions"....It will come to me eventually.

The doll is ADORABLE.

Additionally, I LOVED hearing the back story and how you are working with your mother.  Warmed my heart.  I lost my mother in December.  It's so good to see people appreciating the time they get with theirs.

Anyway, thank you, this thread gave me a huge smile.

jjroland, I am so sorry for your loss. My father passed on in 2005. My mother has many health problems (two artificial hips, steel pins in her back) and she is in pain much of the time. But she has the most amazing spirit and loves to entertain. She is now having her eyes operated on to replace the lenses, so that she can have her driver's licence renewed. Three years ago we got her a place in a retirement village, but she won't live there. She just goes there occasionally to visit the elderly and have lunch with them. Actually she doesn't relate that well to old people at all.
