Subject: New Cameras for 2014!

TwoPynts ( ) posted Wed, 22 January 2014 at 3:19 PM · edited Sat, 18 January 2025 at 5:55 AM

Hey folks, Kort here. I know it has been a while, but I thought I'd pop in and give anyone interested an update. Work, family and life in general has kept me pretty busy, and photography has taken a back seat unfortunate. That may be changing though as I've been able to secure 2 new cameras to have some fun with.

The first is Fuji Films very capable superzoom, the X-S1. It has a larger than normal sensor for a superzoom, so image quality isn't totally unpleasant. ;) This will be more or less replacing my still working but aging Olympus C8080 for general purpose use. I've tested it out a bit and am very happy with it's performance so far.

The other camera I haven't received yet but I keep checking tracking to see if it has arrived at my house (hah). It is the Sony a7K (the K indicating the 28-70mm kit lens). It is my first full-frame digital camera ...and in fact is my first interchangable lens camera! I have been holding off on getting a DSLR or 4/3 up until, but finally took the plunge with this one. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do. I'll be sticking with the kit lens for now, but have some old SLR lenses I may try out if I find the right adapter.

If anyone here has some experience with the a7 already, I'd love to read your tips and feedback.

Be well everyone and I hope 2014 is treating you well thus far!

Nothing like a new camera or two to start the year off right! Have fun!

Thanks folks!

So far, I'm really enjoying both the Fuji and the Sony. Each is an amazing camera in it's own right.
