Subject: Thank You!

I'd just like to say thank you to all those great content creators, be it seller, freebie maker or otherwise, you deserve a big virtual hug for make all the cool stuff that we get to play with. Yea I know saying that is probably considered as wrong by some here. But thats simply it. Without you amazing folks the world of digital art would be a barren place. So if anyone else agrees feel free to chuck your name, and a thanks, below.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

I will second that , especially the freebie makers, on whom my library mostly depends.

I agree..and you get one of those virtual hugs, mrsparky :)

Cheers,

Why should it be wrong to thank the creators in a forum thread ?

I agree: a collective thanks to everyone who has made something in my runtimes.

I totally agree and thank all the freebie contributors.

And a special thanks to MrSparky for his incomparable Lady Danbo.  She has joined the 'family' of characters in my blog, and enriches my work tremendously.

I would like to add my name and thanks to all those creators of contents, freebies and otherwise, especially the freebies without whom I will not be able to do any creative works with Poser, Bryce or Studio.

THANKS

Couldn't agree more!

Thanks everyone but mostly the free stuff creators

Online Now!

I throw in my support and gratitude.  Content is part of the creative process, and without these creators, that process would stagnate and wither.

Hat off to all the content makers!

Until there arrives on the scene a modelling program that is as simple to operate as Poser is for Posing, those of us who find modelling arcane would be dead in the water! The content creators... especially those kind enough to listen to the wishes/needs of the masses are the magic that drive this hobby!

MANY THANKS!

cedarwolf ( ) posted Wed, 19 March 2014 at 9:31 AM

Count me in!  As I say, if it weren't for those brilliant individuals and team creating content I wouldn't have a hobby. For over a decade Poser, and now Studio, have given me a place to go when things get weird in the real world, and I couldn't do it without you.

Agree and thank you. (You too, MrSparky)

mrsparky ( ) posted Wed, 19 March 2014 at 8:13 PM

Nice to see a lot of folks feel the same! infinity10 - sadly because it seems creator bashing (free or otherwise) has become the norm lately. Typical example a recent comment which said hobby creators are "professional wannabe". Which I don't think is really fair on the folks who make this stuff, hence this thread. So we can say a big thanks to those who create rather than complain. If nothing else without them , they'd be nothing to complain about :)

I made this comment but the full post was referring to people that just want to learn quickly how to make money from poser user base
IMHO many store items are lower quality than free stuff that we used to see some years before
How can some people think poser as a hobby but still their only concern is how to make money?
Isn't that a professional approach to something?
That's why I don't recognize anyone that has a store here full of low quality replicas of other successful products that their professional creators invested time and effort (I'm sure everyone has come across a store like this).

This in combination with no other interaction with the community (forum posts, gallery uploads, free stuff sharing) looks to me as pure easy money chase...

Hobby has to be fun also and not just easy money

I agree as well! I wouldn't have nearly as much fun, or rendered the images I've done without the content provided by the vendors and freebee makers!! A big thanks to mrsparky as well, who is always giving us some great and unusual stuff!

Unfortunately complaints seem to always dominate the discussions, but there is a lot of simply outstanding content that is either given away, or nearly given away at very reasonable prices. Those of us who take advantage of the Poser/Daz "ecosystem" have been spoiled by the fantastic, low cost content that is available. When  I post an image, I always try to credit the vendors who's products I use, just as a simple "Thank You". Most of the fantastic images in the galleries simply wouldn't be there if it weren't for the content creators.

Just recently, my modest gallery of a whole 47 images went over 47,000 views, which was a huge personal milestone for me. But I may have never put one image in my gallery if I didn't have great content to use. Sure, I had to do a lot of work myself to make my renders, often completely re-working the mats/shaders. But wthout good, sometimes exceptional content to begin with, none of the images that are in my gallery would exist. So yes, the vendors and freebee makers get a huge Thank You from me.

mrsparky ( ) posted Fri, 21 March 2014 at 3:01 PM

Sorry pitklad - gotta disagree with you for one simple reason. Most folks never make any real money from this. Even full time sellers don't always break even, things often run at a loss, which isn't good for those where poser stuff is their day job. So it's a hardly an easy money chase. That said when a seller claims to be raking it in, I can understand why it's think sellers are minted. Which I'll admit I don't always understand that need to big things up, why not just be honest about it.... Creators make stuff because they like making it, they don't make it get to rich.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

pitklad ( ) posted Fri, 21 March 2014 at 3:59 PM

I am refering to those that think that they can make big money because there is a small precent of succesfull vendors that for a reason are on the top and probably make money or else they would just stop selling and just use poser for fun renders...

I am sure that every creator enjoys the procedure

Some creators make stuff and share even if no one buys-downloads-render their items and just enjoy the process, those are in my mind the hobby creators, those who just create anything that comes in mind and when satisfied with the result share, free or for money since they make this for fun it is still a hobby

BUT

On the other side there are vendors that will never make and share something that none will buy. I can not put those people in the first group, I am sure that they enjoy the process of making an item also because poser is fun anyway! But yes they want to sell I suspect that's their aim

I never said that they get rich from it but they won't invest time for no reason

Hobby is exactly the oposite , when someone invests time and only gets back fun

And of course this doesn't mean that a profesional won't make fun projects also

I am trully sorry that profesional wonnabe sounded absolute negative to you, doesn't it also express ambition? I wasn't refering to every hobby creator but I mention it as a trend among some begginer poser users that rush to becoming vendors, it does not express my opinion for everyone selling at the market

I wouldn't disagree - that in any market - theres always going to be a miniscule minority of get-rich-quicks. But I wouldn't say thats becoming a trend amongst newer users, because thats a broad and very unfair statement. Also what defines the distinction twixt professional and hobbyist? Plus why does the poserverse often use the word hobbyist to infer lower quality or to attack others? All that achieves is to chase new blood away and thats not good for anyone. We shouldn't be doing that, instead we should be encouraging and helping new (and old) creators in more positive ways.

I've never actually used a freebie then posted a render to a gallery, but that's because I never put my mind to producing something to stick in the galleries, I just like tinkering around with the software really.

Having said that, I'm still grateful to those that produce the freebies.  They've come in handy for me a few times, without them, things would take a lot longer, scenes would take longer to build.

So, a thumbs-up to the freebie creators from me, even from my limited use of them 👍

Sorry i didn't say so earlier. Dealing with a major family disaster. Thanks to all content creators. Especially those who work for free.

It would take me forever to get anything done if I didn't have purchased and free content. I couldn't possibly make it all myself.  I appreciate free content a lot, but finding a quality item on sale at a discount makes me very happy too. We are very privileged to have so much good content available at such affordable prices, and often I am amazed at the quality of the stuff people give away. If you make content yourself, you have extra appreciation for the work that goes into it.
