Hi Karl.

TV is for time value, it is the cameras way of you setting the shutter speed, then the camera will choose a suitable aperture for you.  If you want to select an aperture, then you should set the dial to AV aperture value, and the camera will then select a suitably shutter speed.  Alternatively you can use M Manual and set both, but this does require some knowledge of exposures in general.  If you are wanting to shoot wildlife in action, then the TV mode is a good start.  Try to also set the auto focus to AI servo, and the shutter control to burst mode, your manual will help with these features.

It's worth keeping in mind when using AI servo auto focus mode, that the camera will not bleep when focus locks, because it is continuously "Tracking" the subject.  Another good habit to get into is also setting the focus point to centre only, when using AI servo  Again the manual should help here.

Hope all this helps to expain it.

Ronnie
