Consider this a cry for help... My 17 year old son is dying of cancer and I am dedicating my time to making his last few months as enjoyable as possible. He is a DragonBall Z fanatic, and he wants to build the ultimate fan site. At the moment, he's contenting himself with using scanned fan art and pictures downloaded off the web. I am a decent hand with Poser 4.0, and Bryce 4.0, and I'd like to help him make his own scenes from scratch. Does anyone know where I can get Poser models from Dragonball Z? (Especially Goku and Vegeta.) If they're for sale, I'll buy them. If they're available for free, you'll earn the thanks of a greatful father. -- Jeff Edwards (orion23)

Try here Jeff, if I recall correctly there's a couple of DBZ figures availiable here... there's a few here and there though not all of them are poseable. I wish you the best of luck

Thanks. There are two models there, but both are linked to a Yahoo Group that no longer exists. You can't download the models without belonging to the group, and you can't log onto the group because it is defunct.

Ok, this isn't going to be easy and I don't know if it's worth it to you, but the French Artists' Web Server (FAWS) has a couple of low rez Son Goku models in Imagine IOB format. They are lha compressed, so you'll need a program such as "Stardotzip" to expand them. Once expanded, you'll need a program such as 3d Exploration to convert them from IOB to something usefull such as 3DS or OBJ. Here are the links to download the models: ftp://ftp.aminet.org/pub/aminet/gfx/3dobj/dragonball_kit.lha and ftp://ftp.aminet.org/pub/aminet/gfx/3dobj/dragonball_kit.lha -Steve

Sorry, The one download link contains both files. BTW, the 3D-CC secret pages still exist. I'm sure if you explained the situation to Doug Sturk he'd be happy to give you the link -Steve

More info: It's seem's the models have already been converted to obj, but the texture maps are in IFF format. (they use the extention ".cmap" but just overwrite that with ".iff") 3D Exploration reads the files and the textures just fine. The author hints at more advanced versions of the models and includes some a few jpgs of them, but doesn't leave any easy way to contact him. -Steve

3D-CC secret pages? Is that why the "redirect" doesn't actually take you anywhere? It's just sitting there "waiting for reply"...
