Who knows what the truth is? Have read a lot of stuff about it - i.e., "a lot of stuff" meaning what turns up on Google, Bing, etc.

I'm notorious for overlooking the obvious, even 70 years on. What does anyone know about it? Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much, infinity10; that is one I have read. Just looking for reactions, interpretations, etc. Appreciate the prompt response very much.

My only reaction to this is that I hope the "patches" that are being recommended have been audited by multiple trustworthy third parties (and the more the better).

I doubt that it means much for the ordinary user.  There are so many sources and methods of identity theft that one more is a drop in the bucket.  Careful people will continue being careful, careless people will continue being careless, and both will have their money and identity stolen.

You basically need to change all passwords, everywhere.

infinity10 ( ) posted Thu, 10 April 2014 at 8:19 AM

Apparently, one should not change the passwords until the websites have refreshed their ... whatever it is they need to do.  I am not a technical expert, but I read that you should things that way.

Online Now!

My understanding that most major sites are taking whatever procautions necessary to prevent any personal data loss.  they seem to be on top of it ATM.

change pw once removal is confirmed, otherwise they get new pw as well.  I checked this server and it may be clean, but they're not sure.

All who posted above, that's what I was looking for. I especially think it will be "more of the same" in re identity theft, but think that is all the more reason to learn more and be EXTRA cautious.

Like most I will be watching. Thanks for all past and any future postings, opinions, etc.

At the rate the identity theft business appears to be outrunning the security business, I'm thinking of coming up with a program that changes my passwords every 32 seconds.

Here is the article that Renderosity just published for everyone regarding this matter.
