My book 'All The Woes of A World', previously posted in the writer's gallery, after a nightmare of form filling, is now available for the Kindle E-Reader on Amazon!!!!!

Yay Me! I'm celebrating!!!!

(Only took 35 years)

As a way of getting your stories published Amazon and Kindle Direct Publishing(KDP) does seem the way to go. However it is not a straight forward as they would have you believe.

Having gone through the process and jumped through the hoops to a successful conclusion I am willing to offer advice or help to anyone here who may wish to use KDP.

Congratulations.

Er... is that you: Jonathan Icknield?  Or Helos Henning?

Helos is the illustrator. He did the cover pic for me right here on Redo. I made sure he got the credit he deserves for such a great render.

That's nice.  I did notice the cover looked rather good.

Can you say what sort of story it is?  I don't mean the plot like you have on Amazon.  I mean is it straight Sci-fi?  is it Science fantasy?  does it have humour?  That kind of thing.

Oh now how can I tell you without giving too much away? I call it science fiction, but there isn't too much science involved - no startrek like machinery, no transporters or invading aliens, so perhaps science fantasy might be a better description.

It's basically a race against time, natural disaster story with heroes and villians. Some parts will make you smile, others perhaps will make you cry or shake with rage. But with any luck you will not want to put it down until you reach the last page.

Oddly perhaps, since I published it I've had the idea for a sequal slipping it's tendrils into my tired, fuzzy brain.

Amazon lets you have 'A Look Inside', which is about 10% of the story up front, and that includes the forward/preface. If you haven't read that you might try it to help you make up your mind.

Thanks for your interest!

Oh I was going to get it anyway - once I've figured out how to do that with my new Kindle Fire.

My husband's been away up in Cumbria seeing his mum.

But Ian is home tonight and once he's over the journey I'll ask him how to do it. I think you have to set up your bank account or card or something, dunno.  I've only ever downloaded free books before.

I'll have a look at the inside once I've finished trying to UVmap a freebie crab I found.

Good luck with the 2nd one - I'll look forward to that too.

Fran, Amazon makes that part - buying- VERY easy - LOL. Seriously, once you've set things up with your credit card it's a doddle.

Can I get it on the nook?

And hooray!! Writer, artist, survivor..no wonder you my hero..

I've already bought stuff on my Kindle PaperWhite, so does that mean my Kindle Fire is already set up?

Um, no, it seems it doesn't.  You have to set it up again.

But I married a clever man - he sorted my Kindle Fire out and downloaded it for me. Yippeee!

What does the 'F' stand for, Chris?  Or is that a deep dark secret? Lol.

Rosie, Nook is the Barnes & Noble e-reader I believe so I'm not sure if you can get Amazon books to download on it. I'm a hero now? When do I get my lycra suit?

Fran, you might be surprised that the F stands for.........................Francis. And I thank you for contributing to my retirement fund.................

Rosie, it just occurred to me that you can download Amazon's KINDLE For PC software free from their website. Once installed you can use it in the same way as a Kindle tablet or your Nook.

If you buy an Amazon e-book you just select the option for download to Kindle for PC.

Hope this helps!

Make sure you post a pic when you get your lycra suit, I'd pay good money to see you in lycra! Rofl.
