Subject: Problems with Victoria 5

helderres ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2014 at 8:20 AM · edited Tue, 07 January 2025 at 3:22 AM

I got the following products from Daz3d:

DSON Importer for Poser (Win 64-bit); DSON Importer for Poser BETA (Win 64-bit); Genesis 2 – DMC; Genesis Female Starter Essentials; Genesis Female Starter Essentials PoserCF; Genesis Male Starter Essentials; Genesis Male Starter Essentials PoserCF; Genesis Starter Essentials; Genesis Starter Essentials PoserCF; Victoria 5 and Victoria 5 PoserCF.

I installed all using the “Daz Install Manager”, indicating the path for both Daz3D 4.6 and Poser Pro 2012.

When I start the Poser, in Labrary window, appears in "Daz People" the tab "Victoria 5" and at the tab "Victoria 5” two others tabs: “Victoria 5” and “Victoria 5 Supermodel".

When I choose one and click to insert the character, pops up a dialog box of DOSN Importer, and a status bar runs until the end, but the character Victoria 5 does not appear on the screen of Poser.

Can anyone help me solve this problem?

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2014 at 12:25 PM

Have you loaded both the DAZ and PoserCF into their respective loacations?  You need both sets for the install to work.

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2014 at 1:03 PM

I reread your post and my conclusion, you need Genesis loaded first into the scene, followed by injecting Victoria 5 and/or Victoria 5 Supermodel which are morphs of Genesis.  If you want a V5 dedicated figure, you should save the figure back into the Library after the morph is loaded.

WandW ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2014 at 1:24 PM · edited Mon, 21 April 2014 at 1:25 PM

Morphs don't need to be injected into Genesis; they are there when Genesis is loaded. Can you load any Genesis 1 figure at all?  If so, look and see if the Victoria 5 shape dial is there; In the body actor it should be under Female>Realistic, IIRC.

It looks like you have everything loaded.  As Hborre notes, you need to have both the DSON core and Poser CF files installed for each product.

I agree with you, WandW.  Injecting morphs is totally unnecessary with Genesis/Genesis2.  Just surprised that those 2 are showing up in the Poser Library.

Zev0 ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2014 at 4:12 PM

Post a screenshot of your installed content path. There might be a folder within a folder type scenario.

I've had this before. You need to link to my library within DS from within Poser as an add Runtime. Just click add runtime and then browse to my library as Poser needs to know where to get the info from....

cspear ( ) posted Tue, 22 April 2014 at 7:51 AM

Very recently I made another attempt at using DAZ stuff; I uninstalled my old DAZ applications and Gensis content and installed Daz Studio, DSON and Genesis 2 starter content from scratch using the Daz Install Manager. When I'd finished the process I reached the point where I could load Genesis 2 male in Poser OK but Genesis 2 female loaded only an invisible / blank heap of nothing.

I wasn't strongly motivated to use Genesis in Poser to begin with, but I had a little time on my hands so decided to see what would happen. It turned out to be a long-winded process with exasperating results.

I am sorry to hear that as I use G2F extensively and without issues other then Poser being sluggish when you want to make changes to the figure. I am actually quite pleased with G2F and prefer her over V4 as she is very versatile....but a bit of knowledge in DS helps, especially in regards as to what goes where as DIM at times made a right mess of it. I now install all content manually and it works well....

hborre ( ) posted Tue, 22 April 2014 at 1:39 PM

If you are experiencing sluggishness and are using PP2012/PP2014 and using 32-bit, run your Library on Adobe Air rather than Flash.  The Library would be free floating and convenient if you have a dual monitor set up, however Poser will respond better.

ItWasNotAvailable ( ) posted Wed, 23 April 2014 at 2:13 AM

Thank you, but the library isn't the issue. It is genesis herself who is sluggish, when you want to use the morph tool on her for example or change camera angle manually :-) I have two external libraries and run PP2014 on a 64 bit system. Genesis is famous for making the scenes sluggish as I imagine it constantly recalculates via DSON? I ignore Poser's main library as it tends to crash too often....or do you have better results with G2F?

What Sub-D level are you working on?

Level 1 as I have frankly never experienced with it....Should I?

Try 0:) Then only set it back up when you are ready to render or need to see final details. Pointless having a slow viewport while trying to set up a scene. Between 0 and 1 makes a huge difference in performance.

I installed the DSON Importer for Poser (Win_64) and DSON Importer for Poser (Win_64) Public Built-in + Beta +, using the DAZ Install Manager, at the path: c:/Smith Micro/Poser Pro 2012, as I installed all other files: Genesis 2 – DMC; Genesis Female Starter Essentials; Genesis Female Starter Essentials PoserCF; Genesis Male Starter Essentials; Genesis Male Starter Essentials PoserCF; Genesis Starter Essentials; Genesis Starter Essentials PoserCF; Victoria 5 and Victoria PoserCF 5.

In attachment file, (jpeg), is an image of my Poser screen. As you can see there no figure.

Zev0 ( ) posted Wed, 23 April 2014 at 8:34 AM

The simplest thing to do is just make an entire new content folder and install genesis to there. Then add that to your poser library list. I always keep it seperate from my existing content. Just makes managing things a lot simpler. Eg my Genesis1 and 2 and all its content sits on C:PoserGenesis. That has everything Genesis related, then in Poser I just add that directory and works fine.

I will try sub D 0 as it makes perfect sense :-) Thanks for the great tip!!

Helderres do you have my library in your Poser runtimes? not the one from within Poser but the one from within Daz Studio?

Also check whether the DIM installed stuff as it should be as if it is wrong in DS, it also won't load in Poser:

hborre ( ) posted Wed, 23 April 2014 at 10:07 AM

BTW, you don't need the DSON Importer Beta, that is older software.

And Levanah is correct, you need to link the DAZ My Library folder to Poser for DSON to work properly.

So that it appears as a Runtime in the Poser Library, right?

EDIT: OK ignore that, that is what Levanah showed.

The circled folder in the Library is where you add other external runtimes and the DAZStudio My Library folder(which contains its own runtime folder)

My folders are in image.

helderres ( ) posted Wed, 23 April 2014 at 11:36 AM

Dears Zev0, hborre, WandW, Levanah, cspear,

I thank you all for your time, atention and patience.

But as you might have guessed, I understand very little of Poser Pro 2012, and my English is very bad, too.

I saw that the hborre said that the suggestions of Levanah are correct and I need to link the DAZ My Library folder to Poser is DSON to work properly.

So that I wish to ask everyone, if not a great nuisance, to teach me how I run all these instructions.

helderres ( ) posted Wed, 23 April 2014 at 11:57 AM

I downloaded manually (from www.daz3d.com), all this files: Genesis Starter Essentials, Genesis Starter Essentials PoserCF, Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials, Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials PoserCF, Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials, Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials PoserCF, Genesis 2 Female (Templates), Genesis 2 Male (Templates) and Genesis 2 – DMC.

And I already unzipped all the files.

And now? Should I run all files by installing them in the folder “C:PoserGenesis”?

I unzipped all the files.

After that I copied one by one every files to “C:PoserGenesis”

And finally I created a new folder in the library of Poser.

Did I everything right?

There is a new public beta, released yesterday (or the day before). It should be stable, but there's always the risk it will have an issue so it may be better to stick with the official stable build for initial trouble-shooting.

That looks correct - you have added the C:PoserGenesis/Content folder to the Poser library

There is no rule of thumb where you install the content as it can be accessed from anywhere. My C:PoserGenesis was just an example of how I set mine up:)

I throw all my Genesis stuff into a directory called "Genesis". Inside is a subdirectory called "Content" and that's what Poser recognizes as my Genesis runtime. That way I can just drag any Genesis related Daz content directly out of the zip and drop it into the directory, exactly as it is organized by Daz. Both DS 4.6 and Poser access this directory.

I do reorganize the folders within the runtime>library directory, though. Otherwise, I'd never find anything.

The Content folder is correlated with the DAZ Installer Manager (DIM).  When content is installed using DIM, it takes the content out from that folder and ignores it.  Hence, I do not see any additional Content folders in any of my external runtimes.

ItWasNotAvailable ( ) posted Thu, 24 April 2014 at 2:37 PM

I extract all to a temp runtime and the move the Runtime folder into the Poser runtime folder it is associated with and the rest goes into DS ( I need them in there for export purposes as I convert them). I re-organise all files in the runtime folder first though as I use external libraries, which contrary to poser's own, do not recognise each file no matter where it is but only see Pose files in pose, material files in material, etc....I seriously which DAZ would stick to the base rules of Poser as it makes a real mess for many users very often as we need to move loads of stuff on a regular basis...:-)

Indeed.  I have a folder called DAZ Content within the folder where I keep my Poser external runtimes, which is used both by Poser and Studio.  I suppose I should have named it DSON Content, but hopefully the Pedantic Police won't stop by...

I don't use DIM to install stuff. I have so much junk that I have to have a really tight organizational structure, with the proper folder categories, or I'll never find it. I'm so used to doing that with native Poser stuff, that I have to do it with Genesis content that will load in Poser as well.

I need to see what's in the zips before I copy them, or I'll just be looking again later when I need to find the files.
