Subject: Thinking of getting daz figures (V4, M4)

jbearnolimits ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2014 at 3:56 PM · edited Fri, 07 February 2025 at 2:52 PM

I am wanting to get some daz figures. I notice the price on their website is 29.99 for victoria 4 and the same for micheal 4. Since these are older I would like to have thought they would be cheaper. Can anyone let me know if there are coupons, discounts, or anything else that may help?

I read about a book on amazon that was $25 and came with a cd of them but I am worried about if it would even be in there.

Contact the seller

The version 4 figures at DAZ are all higher priced to push Genesis 1/2 morph packs etc.

The only discounts that I know of for older Daz content like that would be the 30% discount on Daz Originals that you get for being a member of the Platinum Club.

If you only ever intend to buy V4 and M4, that's a discount of 17.94 which doesn't cover the cost of a quarterly membership ($24, I think). Though you will also get a $6 coupon every month that you can use on Daz Originals. So you could buy V4 with the PC membership and get the discount on her. Then buy M4, use this months coupon, and get the PC discount on top of it. For a discount of: $8.99 + 8.99 + 6.00, which covers the cost of the PC and you have a PC membership for 3 months.

If you are going to buy the morphs for both characters (and you probably will, unless you're going to make your own), that's another $60 (and another discount of approximately $18). If you wait until the next month to buy them, you can use the montly coupon to reduce the price.

Sometimes Daz Originals go on sale and give additional discounts. Sometimes the PC membership goes on sale. Alas, you just missed a sale on the PC membership.

Yeah...wish I read your post about the morphs before I bought V4 today. I thought the figure would at least have some. But it seems like I was mistaken.

No problamo 30 day money back garentee oh and that disk w/ the mag might have the morphs too

You do have to insist on the refund otherwise they'll try to jack you around with that store credit junk

I like V4 and M4 - they are excellent figures with lots of good addons that you can buy eg clothes, poses, etc.

I use them in my comic.  the occasional cameo figure appears but not often.

I wouldn't want to be without V4 and M4 - they are very versatile. You don't have to buy everything at once. Pace yourself. There are plenty of free morphs and skins for them, but eventually you will need to get the ++ morphs, especially if you use stock characters. I am a Poser user, not interested in the Genesis stuff.

I count myself very lucky to have been a Poser user in the time when DAZ gave away all their base figures for free. The joy lasted for about a year, I think.  I got them then - generation 2, 3 and 4, and afterwards bought the morphs and other stuff gradually.

Put yourself on the mailing list of all the content provider sites. If you are serious about the craft, emails about special offers on 3d content are not spam. Keep your eyes open for sales, bundle offers and other special offers. If you miss one sale, another one will come around again, you just need to be patient, and have some funds on hand for when it does happen.

Only very occasionally do I buy something new when it is released, and then it is usually because I find the item particularly attractive and want to support the artist.

Daz have quite a few sales throughout the year - In fact I don't think there's been a month for years when they haven't had reductions on some product or other.  I always find it odd that they have so many discounts and have to wonder if the artists actually make any money or why anyone would even buy anything at full price there ? lol

March madness and the platinum club sale in October are the best times to buy Daz originals as you can often get up to 70% off.

They also have many Daz original items at large discounts in the Fast Grab section of their site.

I don't buy much there now though and even less at full price

I downloaded V4 and installed her. But I see there ARE supposed to be some basic morphs that will change the shape of the body that should come with her. I went to the forums on daz and they were talking about initializing her to use them? Anyone know how to do this? I asked there but they are slower to respond.

There should be an Update shortcut on the desktop, if not go to |RuntimeLibraries!DAZ and double click the DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat (or .command for a Mac) file. You then need to go to Pose library DAZ's Victoria 4>Morph Injections to add the morphs to the loaded figure (they don't load automatically in order to allow people to be selective when memory is tight - usually there will be a pose to load a complete set of morphs in the Morph Injections folder and a folder for the morph set within the folder to allow adding single morphs).

Check the DAZ Fast Grab at least once a day.  The Gen 4 and Gen 5 bundles have been in Fast Grab more than once in the past year.

Also keep an eye on major promos.  During either the PA sale or the PC anniversary last year, if you spent so much, you could pick one of several bundles for free.

Keep you eye out for DAZ Originals sales.  Between sale discounts and PC membership discounts (if you are a member) there have been times when DAZ Originals have been on sale for as much as 71% off original price.

If you are interested in the PC (if you are interested in V4 and M4, that's where you'll find the best deals on just about anything you'll need) the best time to join is usually during the PC anniversary sale in October.  DAZ usually ups the standard 30% discount to 40%.  They used to offer some really decent one day deals but that's kind of gone by the wayside.

M4 and V4 are useful figures to have as there is a huge catalog of products both free and for pay available for them and they will work in every version of Poser from P5 on up and in DAZ Studio from version 2 on up.

There are used/remaindered copies available on Abebooks, too; make sure it includes the disc, as the book itself is prety obsolete....

Thank you WandW for bringing back the point. That disk has what $200 bucks (retail) of DAZ content? That's the buy.

Yeah I have been trying to get that to work. She has morphs for her expressions but no body morphs. Would this install them? If so I wonder why it hasn't worked.

As far as I can tell, the base morphs are all for expressions and visemes (for mimicking speech). I do not believe there are any body morphs among them.

In my folder of base morphs for V4, there are two morphs to change her body to male. I don't know if those are standard with V4 (or whether you need to buy the V4 male pack to get them). But I have the feeling that's not what you're looking for anyway.

Back when the first edition of the book came out the products were worth that.  The copy of DAZ Studio given away on the disk is last stable release of DAZ Studio version 2.

The version of Cararra is 6 Pro.  The current release is 8.5.

Hexagon is the same but then that should tell you something.  It was part of the giveaway for awhile and is now sold at a far cheaper price than when the book was released.

As for the V4 and M4 content, it's the Complete bundles.  These are bundles that sat between the Starter bundles and the Pro bundles.  They have a few more items than than the starter bundles but less than the Pro.  DAZ dropped them from the store some time ago.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Tue, 06 May 2014 at 3:01 PM

The male body morph, in two flavours as I recall as one had limb scaling that didn't work in Poser, and the male head morphs are embedded in the CR2 for some reason, rather than being injected. I thought the base morphs did include a Lycra option to fill in between breasts and buttocks but essentially it was the pose-like morphs for expressions, not shaping morphs.

About that; off the top of my head it had the V4 and M4 Complete; the Starter Bundles are $50 each, and the Modern Apartment Bundle, which is $90.  It seems to me there was another fantasy bundle, but I don't have the disk in front of me.
