Okay, short of writing him myself, I can't make this any easier for you, Rorrkonn:Well, I'm still lurking in the shadows, but I think it will be the best for everyone if I stop partaking in this forum for the time being.
I'd either have to constantly self-censor myself, limit myself to helping newbies and off topic chit-chat, or constantly deal with the flame-wars any "serious" topic seems to instigate.
If everything said is treated as a mere "opinion" and thus at the end of the day, meaningless, if every factual statement born out of decade long hands-on experience is free to be "challenged" by every Tom, Dick and Harry, if there is not even a shred of goodwill left in the seriousness and righteousness of your counterpart, if everything said is allocated to a hidden, nefarious agenda, then no fruitful discussion is possible anymore.
And as much as I enjoy helping others or sharing my work, without the ability to speak freely, participating in a forum neither is fun nor does it make any sense to me from a logical point of view.
Anyway, I already wrote more than I wanted but I thought I owed those who were genuinly worried an explanation.
As I said, I'm still hanging around in the background and for those feeling an irressistible urge to contact me, I can be reached by sitemail.
I just think it is better to "ban myself" voluntarily while I can than ending up on the ignore list of most forum participants and/or having constantly posts deleted by the admins for "disturbing the peace."
Bye.
You'd never make it onto my ignore list. It's much too elite a club for the likes of someone called "JoePublic". :P
Seriously, though, I don't honestly recall you causing any trouble -- but perhaps I just haven't been paying attention.
I do hope that after you've taken a break to regain your sanity that you change your mind. :)
All the best.

You haven't had any posts deleted since 2012, so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that this would happen now.
I try not to censor anyone's posts unless they become arguments, personal attacks/insults or software bashing, or if they take a subject way off topic. I don't have any rules against topic discussion as long as it's poser related.
Some people seem to think that only Poser should be discussed here and all DAZ-related posts should be removed, but that's not logical since DAZ content is directly tied to Poser and used by the majority of Poser users here. I just ask that it's done in a mature way that keeps inline with the ToS, and with the understanding that nobody here can fix Poser's shortcomings because we have no control over how SmithMicro conducts themselves or what they do with Poser. Renderosity is entirely separate from SmithMicro, so we can only work within the limitations of the current version.
I know that several folks have found your technical threads on how to get Genesis functioning in Poser very helpful. More threads like that are what is wanted here because that's why this forum exists - to help people use Poser more efficiently and come up with solutions/work-arounds to technical problems.
Just don't argue with each other. It's really that simple.

agreed :)
@JoePublic
I never had an issue with your posts from what I remember, other than I sometimes felt I did not grasp the whole context - my problem not yours. I found most were very useful the ones I did not were generally on subjects not a priority for me but still impformative.
Personally I have now issues with opinions or 'facts' derived from tests, trials and experince, where I do have an issue is with non facts (someones opinion dressed up as fact as they have special knowledge) but these are normally aimed at a piece of software or company.
I do hope you decide re-join the dicussion soon as it would be a shame for others to loose your experince because a small number do not know how to behave.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Enthusiastically agree as well. And let's not forget the two weight mapped figures (I hesitate to call them "improvements" because they seem like entirely new figures) that populate the runtimes of many of us. :)

Amen to that!
However, if posting to the Forum doesn't give you enjoyment these days, JP, by all means do something that does...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Glad you're still around Joe, but I do understand perfectly what you're saying and I know of a couple of others who can identify perfectly with what you're saying.
For those who have paid attention in the forums you've noticed that quite some of the older members either have gone or are in hidding, not a good thing..... especially not when knowing that the harassing characters still roam around freely.

A good number of people are also posting over at the Hivewire forum. I don't really use Dawn so I haven't posted over there until recently. But a number of people who used to post here now post over there. Some, like Paganeagle, are almost exclusively there now, it seems.

That's too bad, JoePublic, because I find your thread always rewarding and fun.
I like your figure creation style too.
But just like aeilkema pointed out, I understand why also.
As soon as you try to share Genesis 2 topic, you and your thread tends to get shot down.
The patern is way too familier and sad.
I feel sick and tired of it myself, so I can easily imagine how you'd feel.
You can't even share some of the juiciest stuff because of it.
Well, take a break and rest up a bit and gather your spirit.
Maybe you'd feel good enough to talk again and I'm looking forward to that.
Quote - Couldn't you always just hang out over at the Daz forums? I always felt that place seemed a bit less like someone's parents basement anyway.
Not sure about that, I've left that place somewhere last year, as quite some other poser users did. DAZ itself and it's crowd can be very hostile towards Poser users and especially vendors and freebie creators. I can totally imagine if he (or anyone else) doesn't want to hand around there.

There is a Poser forum at DAZ, but it is mostly posts by folks seeking help installing content...

That's not the same old DAZ. I'm just waiting for them to put the other nail in the Poser coffin and no longer allow downloads of older content from your account product library. That library is the only reason I still deal with them.
"You see what sending out those negative waves did, Moriarty!:

Okay, that's positively not the old DAZ and I positively only deal with them for my product library re downloads.
That better?
LOLOL. (Edit: I know things were pretty bad for quite some time, but....)
I have no issues with current Daz. I'm a Poser user, and I get help, and give help over there quite frequently. I have not encountered any hostility since the DSON importer became a viable option for many users. Daz represents itself as a provider of Daz Studio AND Poser content, right on its front page. I don't think they tolerate outright hostility to any set of members.
I mean, I don't think they're going to take kindly to complaints about why this or that doesn't work natively in Poser (or doesn't work at all). But if it's possible to get something working with a bit of hacking, the users there are generally quite helpful, and you won't be given a lecture about how you should just switch software. (I believe those kinds of lectures are now a ToS violation, as they should be).
Edit: Of course, I also have a few members on ignore over there. It's possible that that might be why everything seems so much nicer and friendlier. :D If so, I advise doing the same, should you ever feel enticed by the forums again. ;) Of course, if they're just not your cup o' tea any more, well, that's fair enough. [If this place is like our parents' basement, then Daz is my great aunt's sitting room. "'Ere, pet, 'ave a bickie wi' ye cuppa!"]

I had my issues with DAZ way back before Genesis. Genesis was just the icing on the cake for me. And despite what it sounds like, I don't hate DAZ. I've always liked DAZ. Still do. But I have very little reason to go and shop there unless I'm looking for a prop or scene. It's funny, I actually shop at CP more now than DAZ.
