Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
I just burned mine to 2 dvds and copied them to an external drive. Your SmithMicroDLM folder should have a subfolder called 'content' and within that, a subfolder called 'win'. The win folder will have all the .exe files that the download manager contains.
It may also have a subfolder called 'installed' but i'm not sure if that is standard, or a folder i created myself. Can't quite remember. Anyway, just locate the DLM main folder and look for the components. It should be in your Downloads directory by default.

I just backed up the ZIP files
PoserPro2014-SR1_win.zip.....65,224 KB
QueueManager2014-SR1_win.zip.......68,643KB
That's good ,right ?

all the content files are separate from the main poser app installer so you have to back up the content separately. There are 10 installers total, not including SRs. Just backing up the SRs will not save the main app files, since the SRs are just updates and require the full app to be of any use. Total it's around 6 to 8gb. Took me 2 DVDs to get all of it (avg 4gb max space on each). If you downloaded the main app after the most recent SR then I think it is included so shouldn't need to back up SRs as well. Not sure on that 100% tho. Doesn't hurt to include them anyway just to be sure.

The full Poser Pro 2014 installer should be about 562MB; the full Queue Manager installer should be about 134MB. You'll also want to keep the Service Release updater patches, up through SR3.1, which will be smaller than the original full installers.
The content installers total about 4.74GB
Poser 12, in feet.
OSes: Win7Prox64, Win7Ultx64
Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5
Another option open to you is to 'Clone' the C drive, once you have it set up as you want it. That way if the hard drive fails you just load the image onto the new drive. I use Paragon Hard Drive Manager but there are many other programs that will do the same. You can even use the back up function in Windows 7 but it is not as flexible.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

It is located in C: user/Me/downloads/smithmicroDLM
I want to ensure I can reinstall if my C:drive fails ever again in the future.
Id prefer a full backup of each of the downloaded files for my PP2014 software.
Any suggestions please, If its just a case of copying the smithmicroDLM folder thats fine as long as it is all in the folder?
Thanks Rowlando
