I should know the answer to this, but to be honest, i don't do a lot of rendering these days. Can someone tell me what causes these "Zombie eyes" and how to get rid of them?

RorrKonn ( ) posted Thu, 05 June 2014 at 1:21 AM

just a guess but look in materail room.see if the textures are still there.

if ya moved a folder poser can lose the path to the textures.

Does Roxie have a separate Cornea the way V4 does? I've had V4 look like that when her Cornea wasn't transparent.

Well, Clarkie, I always did have the impression that Roxie was possessed in some way!

That creepy eye thing never happened to me though.  Her eyeball has gone into orbit along with the camera a few times, but I've never seen her eyes do that.

hornet3d ( ) posted Thu, 05 June 2014 at 5:04 AM

I had a similar effect but in my case it was when I had first started using Reality 3 and I had to change the materials on the eyes surface.  I am not sure if Roxie has a seperate eye surface as well as the cornea, worth checking if she does.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Sometimes I get that when the only thing in the scene to reflect is solid white. If I use a textured environshere, I don't get that.

Well, I did figure it out. I think was something to do with the Irises. Anyway, that's gone now, so thanks for the help everyone.

EDIT: I will point out that this texture is a converted V4 texture from Texture Transformer. Whether or not that has anything to do with the "zombie eyes" at this point I can't say.

Damn! Spoke too soon. It didn't show or render until I turned on IDL.  This... is highly annoying.

hborre ( ) posted Thu, 05 June 2014 at 8:32 AM

Run it through Snarly's EZSkin and see if it corrects it.  I haven't much time to do a V4 to Roxie texture conversion but I will definitely look for this abnormality.

That part could be the plain white reflections. Put some scenery for her to stare at, or a textured dome, and see if it stops.

Okay, EZ skindoesn't correct it. Previews are still showing nothing but IDL renders say different.

Hate to say it, but you might need an exorcist to sort it out.

Personally, I would never exorcise anyone because I like devilish things, but if you're not fond of the demonic eyes, it might be the only option you have left.  Either way, I'm keeping a close eye on this thread to see how it all works out.

Okay, I think I sorted it out.... sorta. I had to take all the nodes off the eyeballs then just plug in the texture map, but that seems to have worked for it.

pumeco ( ) posted Thu, 05 June 2014 at 12:48 PM

@Moriador
Have to admit, that maid looks pretty hot :woot:

@Clarkie
Glad to see you got it sorted, and that you didn't have to resort to exorcism!

I use the envirosphere for all my renders. If I leave it white like the sceen you have rendered her eyes will reflect the white sphere and look wrong. What I do in this case is dispense with the "correct" reflections and use a cornea/eye surface texture that is transparent but has burnt in reflections on it. It's cheating but I only do it in that instance.
