Any ideas why I get this message?

Using PoserPro2014 Mac

That's a lot of gobble-de-gook between the brackets;  I wonder if the total address is too long, because of the long file name?  Or maybe it should be looking for a .pmd with that name minus all the bracketed gibberish?  Have you looked in the folder where the expected .pmd should be?

Poser 12, in feet.

OSes:  Win7Prox64, Win7Ultx64

Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5

I've looked everywhere for any reference to a .pmd within the Genesis files and folders - couldn't find this or any reference to it. I would have contacted Parris, the creator, but couldn't find any way of doing so at Daz.

This is just one of the problems I'm having with Genesis in Poser ... I don't find any of it simple!

DSON creates temporary files when active (they have a unique identifier in the name). Somehow these can no longer be found at the location where they are supposed to be

Possible reasons:

The "writeable" runtime is not writeable (happens when you install the runtime in Program files when using Windows Vista,7,8. Mac would be a runtime without write privilges)

You removed the writeable runtime from Poser

You moved files around (different location)

You installed new morphs in genesis

You deleted the temp files

That's all I can think of now

None of those apply - I just followed the Daz instructions.

This morning I deleted all the files relating to this figure (Bot Genesis), went back to Daz and downloaded them again using the installers as instructed.

But the error message is still there.

So ... is it worth deleting ALL the Daz stuff from the drive and starting again?

The DSON importer generates a whole bunch of temporary files. These are odd for temporary files because they seem to keep hanging arround.

On my system they are in my Poser content folder. For me this is Poser Pro 2014 ContentRuntimeDSONauto_adapted. Much of the temporary stuff has unique keys associated with them which are of the form '7cd4c5f0-213d-a94d-4692-89b851efa914'

Rather than delete the folder with the Bot Genesis installed I would suggest looking at the auto_adapted folder. In the data folder under auto_adapted you should find the temporary .obj and .pmd files. On my system they are grouped into folders which take the name of the author of the model. As an experiment I would first delete the temporary files. This would give the importer a chance to re-create them.

Thanks for the reply.

Deleted the temp files as suggested and downloaded again. Same problem. There are .pmd files for other parts of the Bot Genesis but not for the Bot_Gen_torso, which is the part referred to in the error message. See bottom of screenshot.

Online Now!

Just a quick question, you did install both DS and Poser versions where they belong?

Please you post a screenshot of your DSON Importer preferences - Scripts>DSON Support>Importer Preferences....

I'm no Mac expert, but there's nothing obviously wrong there.

I've spent a few hours checking the "readme" files to make sure things are where they should be, and can't find any errors - but there's still a lot of things not working, so I'll give it a rest for a day or so and then look at it again.  Not sure that Genesis is worth all this hassle ...
