Subject: Disapearing Background Image

I don't no if I have a bug or what, but When making Image sequence PNG backround image made to the correct size of my anamation on top. To test to make sure that background image shows up I render it to check it out. everything comes out correctly. Then when I render image files of the same set up. my background sometimes shows up, and sometimes it don't. No I can run out that same setup, but not in image files, but as avi movie, and the background comes out fine.

I am using Poser2014. with 64bit machine. Plenty of Ram. I love to be able to run image files in the background. it saves me so much time. And Making a background pic same me also a lot of render time resourses and better quality also. I"ve tried PNG as a backgound Image, and also JPEG as a background, Maybe I should use me forground as a JPEG image, but I don't know why that would make a difference. Any Ideas. Thank

When you render, what you see is the background you selected.

When you save/export the render, that background might be kept or might be discarded. This is on purpose.

Saving as PNG, TIFF, or PSD, Poser will discard the rendering background, and leave, instead, an alpha channel for transparency control. The intention is to allow compositing later.

Don't save as PNG if you are trying to keep the background you showed in Poser.

Thanks, That was a suspision of mine. That make my life a lot better. Nothing like rendering out 300 frames then find out that they didn't come out correctly. I could use Affter effects, but that is another step and extra time. Thanks

All right, I have saved the background as a JPEG, Then rendered the animation over the top of that background pic the forground animation was in PNG. The background again disapeared. So now I have a background in PNG, and JPEG with the overlay animation in PNG.

I would render all in one shot, but the leave in the trees in the backtground has flicker unnatural. I don't want to use the animation into after effects the renders would be very time consuming.

I am going to try rendering both background, and forground in JPEG. hope that works.

" I have saved the background as a JPEG, "

I never spoke about the background. Read what I said. It discards your background when you save the RENDER (not the BACKGROUND**, **the RENDER) as PNG.

Regardless of what your background is made of, when you save as PNG, it is REMOVED. Your resulting FOREGROUND, saved as PNG, is ONLY the FOREGROUND.

Sorry for shouting.

"rendering both background, and forground in JPEG"

You don't render in JPEG. You export or save AS JPEG.

Try this next time, with a render you already did BEFORE you read this.

Export the image as PNG and again as JPEG.

Now go look at those two files. Same render, different file formats, different results.

JPEG doesn't have an alpha channel.

----- NEW INFO FOR YOU -----

Saving as PNG is what is removing your background. If you don't like that but you want to save as PNG, then don't use the poser "Background" to hold your background.

Use a one-sided square with your image attached - mount it behind your scene.

Then the square (which holds your background) is a real prop and is not going to get removed when you export or save as PNG.

All right, I got poser rendering a background with a JPEG, and a an JPEG over lay, the way I have before. I had to reistall Poser again. It started going waco on me. So it is fixed now. If I have any other problems, I will use it as a prop. But it looks good now. thanks
