Subject: Queue Manager - need some help

mr_phoenyxx ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2014 at 10:30 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 6:47 AM

So I tried rendering in the Queue this weekend as an experiment. I'm running Poser Pro 2014 and I sent the render to the Queue on the same machine (not across the network). The render clearly shows up in the Queue, takes a few seconds to start processing, then immediately completes in 1 second, and the finished render is blank. A PNG file does show up in the correct destination, but it's just blank (all white).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance. :)

May be a silly question but does the scene render correctly within Poser rather than in the queue manager?  The reason I ask is because I sometimes have a good preview and the render is blank, on most occasions it turns out that there is a wall or prop between the camera and the scene.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Yep! It is a very large and complicated warehouse scene that takes almost an hour to render in Poser, and does so correctly. As soon as I send it to the Queue, then it renders in about 1 minute and ends up blank.

are you on Mac or PC? Which OS? When you render in Poser, do you as a seperate process? If on PC: what's TaskManager telling you?

My thoughts: essentially, QueueManager just starts FireFly as a separate process, and issues three calls. First for IDL pass, then for SSS pass, then for Render. The image file is made upfront, and starts empty. So apparently, the thing chokes in something. In TaskManager, you can see Firefly running, at some processor load and some mem usage.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

PC.  Windows 7 Pro. I don't do anything special when I render: render menu, render.

Looks like it was a firewall issue. I set up a new scene with just andy 2 and the default lights. For whatever reason, when I sent the scene to Queue Manager this time both FFRRender.exe and Poser.exe prompted to permit firewall access. Previously just FFRRender was prompting me.

Processor always maxes out when I'm rendering. Memory usage is about 50%.

The default scene rendered fine and now the complicated warehouse scene is also rendering.

Only thing that's changed is the two prompts for firewall access instead of just one.

sounds like you've found it, broken communications. Processes themselves are doing fine. Fingers crossed.

Left seven renders to process over night last night. All seven were different camera angles and positions for the same complicated warehouse set up.

They all rendered perfectly! :D
