Subject: Is RDNA still Closed?

They said only two days and that was two weeks ago. Any one know what's going on?

SAMS3D ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2014 at 3:55 AM

No, but they said also in the forums a few days.  Not sure what is going on?

Teyon ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2014 at 5:05 AM

There was some issue with the coding of the site, that much I know. So it had to be fixed/redone. Not sure what else is going on.

The forums and gallery are online. From what I gather, the store will reopen very soon.

Unfortunately, you can't login just yet.

It always takes longer to fix something than you first thought.  A universal truism.

Actually, I'm logged into the gallery. It seems to be a separate login now. I have not tried to login to the forums yet.

Thanks for the update.  It is a really big improvement, but at first glance I can't get the idea that shop looks very similar to another site out of my head.  Still that may not be a bad thing.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

It's still all integrated. Now that everything's fixed, one login works for the store, forums, and gallery.

Just had a look it's all up and running. Store upgrade has been worth the extra wait.

quietrob ( ) posted Thu, 03 July 2014 at 9:13 PM

I just returned from RDNA.  The upgrade and look is impressive and that search engine.  Wow!

JohnDoe641 ( ) posted Thu, 03 July 2014 at 9:21 PM

It's finally up and running again but they might as well just rename the site Runtime DAZ Inc because I looked in the store and it goes like this for every section: Victoria 4, Michael 4, Kids 4, Genesis Females, Genesis Males, Dawn, Cookie, Chip, LilBit, Michelle and Others.

I couldn't find any section for SM figures and even in the "Others" section I still didn't see more than one thing listed, it's just like the new store here... it's completely pathetic that the SM figures are being flushed down the drain like waste. I don't think that I'm not the only person who doesn't use daz figures at all. Even if I am, it's insanely annoying that all I see are links for figures I will never use and 0 links for the ones I do. WTF.

mrsparky ( ) posted Thu, 03 July 2014 at 9:34 PM

Nice to see them following VP's lead and using sketchfab as you can get a good idea of what a model looks like.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 03 July 2014 at 10:08 PM

Product pages allow embedding.  Could also be that the artist was inspired by the big writeup DeviantArt did on Sketchfab. ;)

Characters, Clothing, Hair all have seperate sections for SM figures right there with the V4 and Cookie sections and is appropriately called SM Figures

So, nio idea what you are looking at

Teyon ( ) posted Fri, 04 July 2014 at 10:17 AM

Still think the gallery is a bit backwards. The new images section is so small but it's buried under the much larger category section. It should be the other way around. Oh well, I'm glad they're up and running. I was getting a little worried there.

Ha, the "SM Figures" entry literally wasn't there yesterday when I posted that. I did a direct copy and paste of the list so what I posted is what was listed at the time. That's good though, SM stuff needs to be advertised.

Netherworks ( ) posted Fri, 04 July 2014 at 12:10 PM

The SM Figures cat was added partly based on your feedback :) (which is valued and listened to and weighed in)  The Smith-Micro figures do need their own spot.

When the categories were being redone for the new store, the idea was to adopt the KISS principle and utilize minimal categories along with a robust cloud search.  Over time, the idea isi to expand and tweak the categories as needed.

So to address all your concerns:

SM figures are being added back in because you want them, and thats great, we always listen, and they are a trusted partner. Im also quite aware that DNA has a more than a  few of its own "other" figures, so while we have DAZ items and a weight mapped V4, we have our figures, and Antonia Polygon, a beautiful line of original toon figures, and products for SM figures which are being recategorized, we appreciate your insight but "other" figures abound.  That is how we all grow, sometimes you miss a few things upon opening, it is an arduous journey.

Teyon - Im lost by your comment though.  The gallery is quite the same as the last, you come into a landing page, and link at the top to "whats new", so .........I dont see the "backward" rather "more organized" :-)

Thanks for all your helpful comments, and if you want to leave comments feel free to do so in our forums :-)

Yours,

Syyd

Thank you!

I was really saddened that they were missing, but you've done something awesome and added them back. Also it really does mean that I wasn't crazy and they weren't there the other day. :p

Yep, having finally now purchased some items I can say the new site is much improved, as is the check out.  Search function looks good too.

Syyd, I was a bit grumpy the day I wrote that (romance trouble) so I'm sorry if that came off harsher than I intended. I understand RDNA has its own way of doing things, I just find most galleries post images of what's new above the categories themselves without the user needing to pursue a link or do much scrolling, which I prefer.  I find, for me personally, that I like the idea of going to the gallery and seeing what's new right away. If I am then so inclined, I'll hunt down a particular gallery section but for the very limited time I get to peruse a gallery, you've lost me as soon as I pop in just from a lack of willingness to scroll. Sounds incredibly lazy on my part but there it is.

Which is probably why I don't post as much of my own art in the actuall gallery and instead post in the forums themselves.  It's faster for me in some ways and I can take a quick sec to help someone out too. I see what whoever posted before me has done and then I post my stuff and move on or get inspired there and do something new.  If it's any consolation, I wasn't a fan of it before either. Like I said, it's a personal taste issue. I apologize again for the gruffness and I'm truly happy the store is up.  We've a mutual friend whose product I'm looking to pick up soon there. :D

Edit: Also not a fan of how Renderosity's reply window arbitrarily changes the font size on me. That may be a  browser issue but it's annoying.  Always have to go back in and resize my text. :-( Anyway, Happy you're back and I hope you get some vacation time after all the hard work.

See  ^ why the heck is that so small, Rendo?!

A_Sunbeam ( ) posted Wed, 09 July 2014 at 1:36 PM

New RDNA site is just fine; no problem choosing, buying and downloading.

I shall be back!

(It works better with my browser than Rendo does since the last changes - all sorts of things no longer work properly.)
