Subject: CS5 Not updating

nebreah2 ( ) posted Thu, 24 July 2014 at 3:35 PM · edited Sat, 18 January 2025 at 10:10 AM

I have Premium Design and cannot update. I have looked through each simalar question with no help.  I have tried going into adobe update webpage but told me it was forbidden to download. I get this "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." over and over again.  The contact for help web page it brings me to this page, ( http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-qualifying-product.html )

My serial number was copied and pasted from my adobe account directly from the website so it cannot be wrong plus I can use photoshop and all the other programs, so my serial number has to work. CS5  was on xp computer. That computer died and I moved CS5 over to my win 8.1 computer and it worked wonderful. Had to refresh my win 8.1 computer and reinstall CS5 and now the update will not update. I am also using wifi instead of my landline.

I have tried going into adobe update webpage but recieved this on all of the downloads

Forbidden Cannot serve this request on this server

Thank you any help you can give me and have a wonderful day!

This is just a thought but before you reinstalled CS5 did you deactivate it first then when reinstalling it reenter your serial? I have heard of the activation servers cuasing an issue when they think the application is beoing installed on more than one PC which it might think is being done here. Perhaps someone else will chime in with a better answer but you might need to contact Adobe Support directly for this might be something they would be more knowldegable to assist with.

Good Luck

i'll try and see what i can find out... (i didn't know CS5 would even run on Win8.1 ! !)

There might have been a problem with the serial not being deacitivate before installing on the new compurter.

Also i'm not sure what update you are looking for?

The message on the page (that you linked to) is the standard message you get whae you try to update beyond the last 2 versions (so going fron CS5 to CC 2014 won't happen).

are you just looking for the increamental updadte to CS5?

Thanks Lobo and Scott (Retrocity). Did not know I had to to deactivate. So no I have not done that. And that could be why. Cannot contact Adobe directly the only option "they" give me is the forums. Tried looking up email and phone number.. phone number told me they had no phone support.

I have the base installment of CS5 but none of the updates for CS5. I need atleast camera raw update so it will recognize my canon 3T raw files. but could not down load them from the adobe website.

Was surprised when I loaded it on win 8 and it ran great.

Hi nebreah2

I went thru Adobe Support links you can download updates thru this link for older versions I see camera raw is down towards the bottom just scroll and you should be able to find the updates you might need and download them directly and install. You may be asked for your serial number again and if you have an Adobe ID you can log into Adobe see your registred products and your serial number.

Updates

AdobeID

Hope this helps

Thanks! seems I did not scroll far enough down for the right download botton and the download button to the side was not the down load button to click.  Downloading a bunch of updates. Thanks a million for your help!!

nebreah2 ( ) posted Thu, 24 July 2014 at 6:59 PM

Never mind... all of the camera raw file failed to install the same reason as the first ones.

You are on Windows 8.1 you said? Try right clicking on each file you downloaded and run as adminstrator also from reading another thread in Adobe Forums you need to do the camera raw updates in order from oldest to the most recent and turning off anti virus while doing the updates has helped some users and have to make sure your version of Photoshop itself is updated to its last release for CS5.

Good Luck

Thanks Lobo. I tried running administer with the same result. I was able to get a hold of adobe chat for checking my serial number for too many activations and I have no problems there. They could not help me else where though and no one has replied to my adobe post. I am so very grateful for all the help you are giving me.

I checked numerous adobe forum post and this seems like a common issue and the only other post that has link to doing a manual install is this one Camera Raw 6.7 Update doing the manual update with this patch installer might work it is the last one I can find. I hope you have some success with this one I do try and help as much as I can and problems like this one well my dog after a bone persona kicks in and hate giving up on not solving something.

Hope it works
