Subject: Poser not working...help!

Eroticartist ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2014 at 11:27 PM · edited Wed, 14 August 2024 at 3:05 PM

I have been using Poser 7 for a few years now.  The last time I opened it a couple of days ago I loaded a clothing figure and went to "conform to" V4 and the program freezes.  I tried reinstalling P7 and it worked once and then went back to not working.  I tried re-reinstalling and it's back to not working.  The only feature that causes this is when I go to "conform to".  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Sorry, this is an obvious question, but have you tried a) conforming other clothing to V4 and b) conforming clothing to other figures?

Secondly, what's your operating system, and (if it's Vista or later) where did you place your content files?

Ditto on EnglishBob's post.  Not enough info to diagnose the problem.

Hi and thanks for the replys!  OS is Windows 7 and yes....I have tried conforiming many other figires to different characters.  That's after I have to keep shutting it down and opening it again and again when trying to "conform to".  It has been working fine on this computer for 2 years.  I haven't opened it up for about 2 months and this started happening.

Sorry...content files are extracted to their proper folders in Runtime.  As I said....it has been working fine since I got Poser 7 on 2 different computers, both Windows 7.

Under Windows 7, there will be issues if your Runtime is within Program Files (which the Poser 7 installer considers to be the "proper" place). Windows will try to stop applications writing to sub-folders under Program Files.

I'd advise either moving your Runtime to your documents, or the entire Poser installation; you may have fewer hassles with the latter.

I don't know why it used to work and now doesn't, but something changing within Windows could bring this about.

One, has Windows recently updated?  The August 12 update has issues.  Check with MS site regarding what they suggest if your OS updated on August 12 and you are experiencing issues.

SMS tech support won't be of much help since they won't provide much if any support for P7.

Have your tried going into the prefs and deleting the Poser ini file?  When you uninstall Poser, do you run an app like CCleaner to clean up the uninstall before you try a re installation?

Yes...I install all recommended updates.  Thanks for the info....I have just unistalled the problem updates so I will see if that helps.  I appreciate it!

Ok...that worked!  I deleted the updates that they recommended to delete and when I restarted it loaded up the fixed updates and P7 is working fine now!  Thanks so much for you help!
