Subject: Poser 9 Copy & Paste in Animation palette

JagoBC ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2014 at 8:43 PM · edited Fri, 03 January 2025 at 12:11 AM

I purchased P9 when it was on sale a while back after many happy years of using P5.  For one thing, so much cool content required a v.number higher than 5 to use.  But I'm having a horrendous transition period!  I'm hoping someone can help.

One thing I did regularly in P5 which I can not seem to do in P9 was highlight a character (an entire figure, all body parts) in a key frame in the animation window and then copy it and paste it to a new key frame.  When I do this in P9, even after selecting the entire figure (a white selection box encircles all the body parts in the animation window), when I paste to a new frame, it only pastes the body part currently selected in the paramenters window. For instance, if the parameters window happens to be on right shoulder, even though I move to the animation palette and select the entire figure, when I paste to a new frame, it only pastes the right shoulder.

Surely they did not remove this feature.  Does someone know the trick?

Have you tried just dragging it to a different frame?

Using Poser Pro 2012, similar to P9 and I can not seem to cause it do what you are seeing.  I have used ctrl C and Crtl V to copy multiple frames across the time line.  I can collapse the pallete down to just Andy and copy a frame with no problem.  Selecting multiple parts when expanded allows me to copy them a different location as long as the parts that are to be pasted too are selected with the white outline.  If the copied part is larger then the destination then the parts not selected in the destination will not be pasted.  You can select more parts in the destination then in the source and only the parts that match in both will get the keyframe applied.

The only time I get something like you describe is if I copy a single part like the shoulder and paste it to a single part like the forearm.  But that only occurs if it is a single part to single part, and the manuel warns against doing that.  If either the source or destination is multi-parts then it will not paste unless they have overlap.

I can drag the entire pose to a new frame, unfortunately, it "Moves" it rather than "Copies" it, meaning that the original keyframe is deleted. THere's got to be something I've tweeked in the preferences that is messing me up, if you all say the Crtl C, Crtl V should work.  That's the way I always did it in P5.

If you select the part and hold down the Alt key as you drag the keyframe then it will make a copy of it.  Not sure why Crtl C&V do not work for you.

That works.
