Actually, I read that stuff all the time (pulp fiction). Tarzan, John Carter, Doc Savage, The Shadow, The Spider, etc. I LOVE that stuff!! I also enjoy flipping through the pulp fiction cover art books I have. I'd love to participate, but I can't promise. I'm kept pretty busy a the moment modeling for some other folks.
If I get an idea I can't let go of, I'll see what I can do. :)
Whoa. After reading the official rules, I'm having second thoughts. A lot of requirements there. We'll see what happens. Lately, I've been wanting to do pulp styled image. I'll have to give this on a good think.

Hi booksbydavid,
Wow! I'm so glad you are into the pulps. Please join us! It would be awesome to see what you would come up with.
The rules look kind of long. I stole a lot of them from previous hosts. But, they're really pretty straight forward when you break it down. The main challenge ones are basically something mechanical; a rusty shader (does not have to be fancy) just something other than the stock Carrara one; and a couple of things made or enhanced in Carrara, which is hard not to do in the course of making a scene, to make it a Carrara challenge, What are you particularly put off by? Just run it past me, I'm a pretty easy dictator as they go.
Hope to see you there,
sukyL
Quote - Wonderful work suki !, really great choice of theme. I can't post at other forum at moment as ipad gives me a bad gateway, the theme I's getting lots of interests I see with hits , maybe we can talk booksbydavid et al into having a god
Hi headwax,
Thanks, I'm glad you like the theme. I've been out-of-town for a day with very little internet access myself. I'm so glad someone stopped by to man the booth. Yes, please work on booksbydavid and anyone else who might be interested. We would love to have them!

Hey, Suki.
Nothing specific about the rules. Just a lot, but once you break it down, it's not so bad. Sometimes I have trouble seeing the forest for the trees. :)
And stop encouraging headwax. He's been pestering me at home. He's tapping on my window late at night and wailing, "You know you want to...". It's getting kind of creepy. :)
Quote - OK, I give up. Pressure from headwax was too much for my sensitive nerves. I'm in. :)
Yay! I hope others learn from this example and realize resistance is futile! Bwa Ha ha! ;)
Anyone else interested, check out the WIP thread (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/47148/). Entrants are moving along smartly on their projects. There are some great ideas on setting up rusty metal shaders, customizing text with the vertex modeler, and using toon plugins and non-photorealistic rendering.
