I honestly have no clue why this happens sometimes, but I'm hoping someone can explain it to me and more importantly, how to fix it.

I was in the process of texturing a denim jacket for Roxie in Blender. I had just upgraded the texture from GIMP, but when I tried to reload the texture into Blender, the Jacket went black and I can't get the texture back.  Help please?

remove the texture image and then reload it because sometimes if you did not remove the original file it will get confused

sometimes the normals will reverse

Do you have a bump map and texture map on this, in Cycles? If your texture map node is selected in the node editor, that's what shows in the preview. Well, that's what I see happen in my flavour of Blender, anyway... I select the colour map (texture) and it's all good.

Oh, oops - just noticed you weren't doing this in Cycles.

I never use Blender Internal at all - indeed, with version  2.72, Cycles will become the main render engine - so I can't help you. I always found BI very confusing... but that's probably just me.

There's some really professional models I've downloaded from the freestuff area by this guy I'm linking to.  I don't think they are meant for Poser, but all the OBJ zip files contain one OBJ file with "Blender" in the title, which imports perfectly into Blender.  There's also one for "Poser", which I'm assuming is for that application.  Not sure what he did to the obj to make it import so nicely into Blender, but there's always several OBJ files of his objects, and one is always labeled "Blender", and that's the one I always use.  All the models I've tried so far were modeled extremely well, and contain all quad surfaces, so they can be subdivided nicely if you wanted to.

Sorry, it took so long to respond, but thanks for the help. That  was indeed the problem.
