Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 8:11 pm)

Subject: Poser = Windows.ver++ ?????

Today a new and exciting error message has started to appear EVERY time I switch into the Materials room in P9.

Something has auto-updated the graphics driver so that it thinks I'm using Windows 8(R).  But I'm not(R).  I'm still using Windows 7(R).

This is a deep error.  Everything goes black for a few seconds, then returns with this message.  Poser itself won't resume running and won't even close in the usual way; have to use the Task Manager to close

Since I don't allow Win to auto-update, I don't know when or how this update came in.

Gee thanks, New Rendo.  Now I can create orphan lines in a message without even trying.

Pardon me.  We don't "create messages" in NewRendoWorld(R).  We "open issues(R)".

 If you think it is an update try looking a 'system restore' (start, all programs, accessories, system tools) and seeing if there was a restore point set.  If not have you done any major changes, if not go for the latest restore point you have and restore that.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Thanks.  That's probably the easiest solution.  For some reason I don't think of doing a Restore, even though experience shows that it almost always solves this type of problem.

Yup, that fixed it.  Thanks again.

The only reason I remember is that every so often something happens that wipes out a third party Poser content database that I have used for years.  I gave up on trying to find the cause when I found out a 'restore' works.  I start it running, go and make a cup of coffee and all is fine again.
