Subject: Any David Eddings fans? er, this Flute's for you

Recently I discovered the fantasy series by David Eddings. Immediately I feel victims to the viles and whims of Flute. Since I don't have the Mil Kids, I took a crack at resizing and reworking Vickie 2. What do you think?

Is this the face that could capture the heart of even the sternest church knight?

Still working out some bugs. Like no clothes for her to wear. Her simple garment here fits from the front but that is about it. It is a P4 children's dress I picked up somewhere and sort of made work. I think the stuff from Poser World for the kids will fit her but have not tried yet.

SHe is missing the grass stains on her feet! Heheh I am a huge fan of the series as well as the author. I have pretty much read all of his works! I am currently reading the Tamuli series...book 2 The Shining Ones. Very nice work. Charlie/Dagar

Thanks. Yeah, she really needs to have grass stains on her feet, but I didn't have a texture made up for her yet so I used the stock Vicky 2. Lots of work still needed for sure. Also, have run into some probs when using this file with the regular Vicky 2. I made up a new obj for Flute and hope that will solve the conflict. :o) I started with The Diamond Throne, onward in that series. Really great books. Now I am going to go grab everything else he has written. Particularly want to read the series from the start.

The face is totally beautiful!!! Well done! Irene

Thanks Irene. Eventually she will make it to free stuff in some form. Since I am using Vicky 2 I will have to do it so as not to violate copywrite. I can put up a pose file but that alone will not work as I totally resized her body and I do not think that that info transfers. I am not sure if the Mil Kids use the same morphs and stuff as V2. If they do, then I suppose a pose file might work on them at least for the face. If anyone knows, speak up. A couple other probs going this route also. No clothes will fit her without some major reworking. Also there is the obj issue as mentioned above.

Are we going to get any of the others as well? Flute is great. I am a great fan, we have all his books and they get re-read and re-read, when not playing with poser.

LOL, I guess a lot depends on time and ability. Since I don't have a lot of either it may or may not happen. I still have a Hobbit and a Wizard figure I am working on but just can not seem to find time and enthusiasm enough to get done. :o) I started Flute mostly as an alternative for me to use since I do not have the Mil Kids. I figured there were probably some other folks out there like me who maybe had V2 and could use her as well if I got her done and posted her to free stuff. But there are a lot of complications going that route so only time will tell what ends up. I would like to share her with the community if I can, but all this takes time and that is just not something I have a lot of these days. So we will see.

Great image Shadownet! lol i would never have thought of doing that!

Thanks Cheryle. Okay, I finally got Flute to go modern with this Mil Kid outfit from Poser World. I had to resize and tweak it slightly but the outfit conforms and seems to pose as good as can be expected with Poser clothes. She wanted to go bare foot, I said no but couldn't get her into anything but sneekers. A bit more tweaking and the Poser 4 shoes were made to conform. So basically an outfit for her is doable. Since she is the Vicky 2 mesh any outfit for v2 can be rescaled and made to work but will not fit right in the chest area (need a no breast morph to fix that). Now, to post Flute to free stuff I will have to put her up as a pose file and then include instructions on how to rescale Vicky 2, etc., to make her the right size as the pose file will not change these settings. If the face pose will work on the DAZ Kids then maybe that will work as an alternative. The big question for me is it worth the effort to do this. As I mentioned before, extra time is not something I have a lot of these days and I have not gotten very much interest shown here in this thread so I have no idea if (except for the few folks who have posted) that anyone else wants/can use this character.

In case you're interested. On a pan flute, the pipes increase in length in exponential order. If you want a quick, but good way of getting it right, make the longest pipe twice as long as the shortest (you're not quite there yet). Let the lengths increase in a straight line (the way you've done) then shorten the middle pipes so that you have a gentle curve, like a tilted bow. Not doing well describing this, I should draw it. The diameter should be constant on the entire pipe, so you won't have them touching at the bottom yet having enough gaps at the top for you to see her chin through the pipe.

Thanks Wiz, I am not a modeler but will keep this in mind if I ever get brave enough to try and model a pan flute. The flute pictured here is the toy flute posted to free stuff by Helen. I may have also muddied the water a bit for those here not familiar with David Edding's fantasy series. Flute is the little girl (actually a child-goddess) who has a knack for getting folks (and even the other gods) to do things her way through hugs and kisses and child-like innocence and charm.
