Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 06 4:35 pm)
The Poser 8 figures and Miki4 use the encapsulated joint rigging that was introduced in P8 and then replaced with weight mapping in P9. If you are having trouble adjusting the joints, you might want to send a copy of the conversion to PhilC. You can site mail him here or email him at PhilC.net. He is always willing to take a look at a conversion and help you fix it.
After the conversion - this is what I am seeing -nothing is lined up.
These are pics of the front to back. I get similar results on the BEND or up/down views as well. I have fixed all and tested using the dials. However, when I move and correct - it all seems ok until I import a BVH or try to move the arm up and down after correcting.

Via email I suggested the following:-
Select the clothing.
Go to the Poser menu Figure > Copy joints from > Ryan
Check the pose, sometimes the same effective pose can be created by rotating the collar less and the shoulder more.
Also remember that the P4 Men's Turtleneck model is very low resolution. It may not be a bad thing to take it into your 3D modeling application and do some subdivision on it. Be sure to retain the group names. If you have UV Mapper then you can do it easily in that.
I also commented that the second capsule is just there to add extra refinement. In some cases the effect is so small that it is hardly required IMHO :)

I converted the P4 Male Turtleneck to the P8 Ryan2 using Poser Pro 2012. The conversion worked but it required Joint editor adjustment to the inner and outer spheres.
I used the tutorial on the PhilC site and got rid of the left behind polys. BUT - after importing a BVH and running through the animation I noticed that whenever the Collars are lowered are raised too much - a large bulge appears on the shoulders. If I make the clothing invisible the actual Ryan figure looks fine - but the Turtleneck I converted isn't having any of these kinds of movements. Converting the same clothing to a G2 Simon figure produces no problems.
I want to use the Ryan figure because of the advanced facial controls. What might I be doing wro
