seachnasaigh, you've already created what I've envisioned, no need to draw anything. I'm just trying to figure out how you're reading my mind.

Perhaps those floating trees are the mystic elven trees that hover above the earth coming within range of the valley every 100 years or something.

Wow, a lot of work, Hamilton!  Bravo!

RedPhantom, I'll fix the floating backdrop trees, but I like your idea for a baramin of floating trees;  I'll try to model something up.

@Hamilton
Anyone who has an open-reel tape machine in his production, deserves a thumbs up :-)
Classy, beautiful-sounding machines they are!

And regards the lack of a Blu-ray release, I feel your pain there, there's a lot of stuff I'm still waiting to hit Blu-ray because I want them in Full HD, and I refuse to buy them on DVD if I think it's overdue for a Blu-ray release.  There's no way I'll ever buy a download (music or movie), I'm strictly a physical media person, so Blu-ray all the way right now.  But hang in there, I think you'll see a release for that one sooner or later.

@Clarkie
Looking cool :-)

Thanks, but I screwed up on the material zones after doing all that rigging and morph transferring. So I have to start all over.

Not bad if I do say so myself. I'm especially proud of the way the jeans fit and bend.  I've done everything I can, but I'm still getting poke through on the calves when Roxie bends her leg. I have to keep reapplying the deformers pose from the library. Otherwise it works fine.

Those are Mechmaster's models, from his "Second Empire" graphic novel.  Do yourself a huge favour and read it, if you haven't already.

I'm converting them to Poser format, with Mechmaster's permission.  With luck, they should see the light of day soon, along with two variants and several other models from the same story.  When I have those wrapped up, I'll put the finishing touches to some of my own stuff and upload 'em here.

I'll keep working on the hair. My concern though is being able to drape it. It would have to be bullet dynamics but the collisions aren't too good. I was thinking of using magnets to help but unless there's a way to have a magnet effect more than one object, that might not be practical since each curl is a separate hair group.

Still a work in progress. The Obi (belt) is having a lot of poke thru in the cloth room. Problem is, I'm not sure exactly WHAT is poking thru. It looks like an underlying layer of cloth, but there shouldn't be any, especially on the chest and knees.

Teyon ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2015 at 7:53 AM

Based on color alone, I'm going to say it's her abdomen or waist poking through the belt.

Do you have any of the self collision options set? That might help determine if it's cloth or not.

Looks like possibly from under the arms or along the back somewhere... looks like the spherical fall-off zones need to be tweaked...

I've run in to issues like that making clothing for my Anime Girl and it usually results when the spherical fall-off zones on a joint aren't adjusted properly to cover the mesh at the joint... though if it's a weight mapped figure then this might be some other issue entirely...

pumeco ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2015 at 3:44 PM

Can't help with the vert, but it's looking good, very Japanese!

EClark1894 ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2015 at 8:39 PM

One problem I still have with the cloth room is how to do belts. The Obi needs to be around her Waist and restrain it. I made the belt separate because of the stray vert and everything seems to work fine again. I'm going to try and make it part of the whole Kimono thoughso people won't have to worry about pokethru in the Obi.

     Make all of the polys under the belt a separate material zone.  Ditto for the belt itself.  Assign those two mat groups of polys to the constrained group.

I pulled a "vilters" here and  exported everything as one object into poser. Here you can see I've gone back and detailed the kimono a bit more with a collar around the neck. I've also added geta (footwear) and tabi (toe socks). I think I want to add a couple of props to this outfit and then, unless I spot something else wrong, I'm done.

So since I seemed to be on an Asian kick this week, I decided to try to morph Roxie to look Asian. I probably could have just saved some time by making this kimono for Miki4 in the first place, but I can still make a version to fit her. Here's my attempt to make Roxie look Asian. Side by side with Miki4 to see if I came close.

Pumeco, are you (also) using the morph brush to sand off Posette's rough edges?  If so, what are your brush settings?  After I get a weight map I like done for her, I want to sand off the poly ridges.

pumeco ( ) posted Wed, 11 February 2015 at 2:36 PM · edited Wed, 11 February 2015 at 2:44 PM

@Gremalkyn
Yup, I used the Poser Morph Brush for everything but it's not really possible to give you settings 'cause I changed them while I worked on it.  As usual, I didn't bother to save her, but the attached image shows the last setting I had used on the Smooth Brush, and basically the Smooth Brush is how to smooth-off the edges.  Notice also that "Stroke" is disabled, and that's a biggie for me when I work with the Morph Brush (I rarely have it on), it's one of the main things I really like about it.  What happens is that you can pinpoint to the exact vertice and then move your mouse around, but, the influence zone stays put where you first clicked.

What I do first is go to the menu for Display>FigureStyle>SmoothShadedLined so that I can see how the Smooth Brush is tightening the polys.  Once I have that, I go to the menu for Display>FigureStyle>TextureShaded so that I can work on the rest of it without being distracted by the wireframe, and it's ideal because you can still pinpoint vertices due to the vertices illuminating.  So basically, my workflow is to Pose her, rough out the basic shape without being too careful about it, then do the smoothing, then set the brush settings to more detailed and refined settings to that I can do more intricate stuff, and then back to the smoothing again.

Basically, just like that, back and forth until it looks ok.  The Posette I posted has basically been posed, had the first step of rough shaping done, and then the first set of smoothing, that's as far as I got before I closed Poser.

These settings are for getting a reasonably fast reaction over a large smooth area (abdomen or shoulders for example):

I can't post any renders, nude kids are a no-no.  But working with Katie, adding some years to her, now with some success.  Someone some time ago sent me a PM with a web addy, had an obj for Katie with the stray vertices in the hands taken care of, which more than anything showed some problems with the feet.  That taken care of, I can now use poser subdivision and she looks a lot better, but still has some horrid joint problems, particularly elbows and hip-thigh.  Breast morphs, okay, came out halfway decent, but I didn't go very large, she's a member of the IBTC.  Changing the jaw line is proving to be a bit more than I'd thought, but I'm only using the morph tool.  Genital groove added with a magnet, looks like someone sat her on a table saw and ran her over a dado head. Not sure what or if I'm going to do there, maybe forget it.  More basic body morphs needed, but, kid figure, none included and that would be something else to try with the morph tool and my not so good eyes.  The girl I'm modeling after had wide hips, very wide hips, maybe not what I really want.  But all in all, I'm beginning to make some progress in the right direction.  Not that it would be worth it when I'm done, but,,,,
