I made Galactus from Zygote's muscle man. He's all my own work except for Dave's male skirt. I'm trying to make the black triangles transparent & the P4 manual says to do a high-contrast, greyscale bmp. I've tried with the cutouts black or white, but they are still visible. HELP!

LOL - looks like the Borg might have met their match there ;o) What you'll need to do is create a seperate transparency map for the kilt with the parts you want made transparent in black and the rest white. Paul

I've done the trans map as you say, but the cutouts still show whatever colour is on the main texture map? Fiddling with the 3 transparency sliders does nothing either.

For maximum transparancy try these settings on the sliders: Min Trans 0 Max Trans 100 (Bottom Slider) 0 Sorry..too early..can't recall name of last one! It does sounds like you're doing it all right. I'm not sure what it is exactly you're making transparent...but, could there be something behind that's of simular color that's hiding the transparancy? Foxhollow

Hi Folks! I have to tell you snakepit: characters from what I consider the "Golden Age" of Marvel Comics--Galactus, the Silver Surfer, the Sentinals, the Inhumans, the immortals of Asgard, etc.--are what inspired me to pursue animation in college and what got me so excited about desktop computer graphics! Thanks for bringing back such good memories! Peter (Dr Zik)

Did you apply it as a texture map or a transparency map? If you applied it as a trans map it should be transparent. If you did it as a texture, then the trans sliders will have no effect. If you applied it as both, try just the trans.

Peter, thank you. I don't think I could get a better compliment. Those comics are what imspired me to draw too. Fox, the areas I want to make transparent are right where the kilt meets the legs. And now they are! Thanks to everyone for the tips. I did everything right...except the trans map was on the preview, not the material agrrn noht buotpoynrm (beats head on keyboard).
