Subject: So, wait, now HOW can I use paypal "my way" here?

Lyne ( ) posted Sat, 21 March 2015 at 12:55 PM · edited Fri, 07 February 2025 at 8:21 PM

Ok...I have been PMing KristiS...about how to use pay pal here...I said what I wanted to do (for the first time, since my cc has been getting hacked somewhere along the line at one or more 3d content stores) is open a pay pal account, then:

  1. fill my cart HERE

  2. go to my pal pal account and put money INTO it, using my NEW cc

  3. come back here, and check out using my pay pal for the exact amount I put into it.

so I asked if I would STILL have 'instant downloads at the time of purchase' and she said YES, that is how she does it. (but wait, if Krist uses pay pal as a "gate way TO THEN ENTER HER CARD NUMBER" - maybe I am already mixing my processes?)

BUT then my friend (who also had her card hacked) came to do this very thing with her new card...and could not find a button at check out that would allow her to "go through the pay pal gateway" and check out...so she had to go through a long crazy thing of e mailing rendo, getting purchase verified, to even GET an e mail back to then get her downloads... NO WAY am I going to go through all those steps to make a purchase.

KEEPING IN MIND I AM DYSLEXIC....and can get mixed up (sheesh, born with intelligence, and then given brain connection issues...?!)

My GOAL is two fold: to use paypal's tighter security to shield my new cc AND to have instant downloads.

IS there a glitch in the marketplace, resulting in NO pay pal gateway button during check out OR is using paypal really a long involved process?

I honestly need step by step instructions IF I can indeed use paypal here, right at check out.

HELP?

Thanks, and so sorry for my annoying brain!

The way it should work (I've never used Paypal here, but have at other places), is after you select to pay via Paypal, you should be taken to a login prompt for your Paypal, and the rest of the purchase is conducted there. I've never had to input any card number if using Paypal (either the funds were in my account, or it was linked to my bank at the time for immediate transfer).

Now, depending how you set Paypal up, funds transfers can take a few days. Verify that the funds are actually available to use in your Paypal account.

Well it's my understanding if I put money into my paypal, then use it to pay for my order here, it should be immediate... however this is where I am confused and waiting for Kristi to help... It may be that I need to have my new cc 'on file' with my (new) pay pal account FIRST for the charge to "sale right through" using the paypal gateway... but it all sets MY brain to spinning... I'm trying to learn about how paypal works BEFORE I receive my new card... I better go TO paypal and start reading... !

If there's no money currently IN the Paypal from a previous transfer, then yes, you need a card associated with it so Paypal can automatically charge/transfer from the bank/credit account associated with the card.

The only way to make Paypal an instant transfer when purchasing things are either a) money already in the account (the paypal account, not your checking account), or b) having a card linked to Paypal. Linking just a checking account via account and routing numbers still aren't instant. The card must be in there for it to be instant (again, unless there is already money sitting in the  Paypal funds).

I just went and read a lot on the PAYPAL site... seems I only need to LINK my new cc to my paypal account...then use my PAY PAL ID here, when I check out via the pal pal portal...so my card numbers NEVER have to be TYPED IN AT A STORE again!  PayPal is being the 'gate way to my cc' I think.  The cc can STILL get hacked but maybe it's a bit more secure, being stored and used from PAYPAL only... hmmm..

Correct. Doing it through Paypal makes your CC a little more secure as they'd have to hack your Paypal to get access, at which point someone would have to target you specifically since if I read right, Paypal has never suffered a breach.

OK well I'm just waiting for a store person to tell me if the portal HERE works this way and if, indeed the pay pal BUTTON option WILL appear at check out, since my friend could NOT FIND THE PAY PAL BUTTON DURING CHECKOUT.

The Paypal button is like 2 screens into checkout. It's one of the options under Payment Type above the CC drop down.

Vaskania is correct. Once you get to the actual "pay" page, you will have the options to pay by PayPal. :)

Hi Lyne,

I'm sorry, I was off this weekend. Thanks to Vaskania, seems you got it all worked out.

Just wanted to pop in and let you know why I didn't hop in here before now.

Hope you all have a wonderful week :)

NOOOO but the button to GO TO PAY PAL was not there, the first time my friend did this process??? My friend is trying AGAIN RIGHT NOW, as I type this.... stay tuned...

IT WORKED!!  the "missing button is there this time..." so she could GET to her pay pal...and did check out, and GOT HER HAIR THAT WAS ON SALE ! YAY!

Would the missing "go to pay pal button" be because she had never used pay pal here, before?  Makes me wonder, I'll just have to try it myself once I get my new card that I want to use this way.

whew!

You sure it was missing and she didn't just overlook it?

Hi Lyne,

The paypal button should show up after you choose that method of payment, maybe she hit a different method by accident, I'm really not sure.

It should however show up as I stated above whether you have used Paypal before or not.

Have a wonderful day!

Why are you jumping through all those hoops?  Set your credit card as your backup payment option with Paypal then it will pull it from your card and you don't have to transfer money every time you want to use Paypal.  Your Credit Card is never used on nor transmitted to any of the stores' payment gateways & is only processed with Paypal. Since Paypal itself has never been hacked, only individual accounts via the usual phishing and such there shouldn't be a problem.  I've had paypal for about 14 years and never had a problem with it being hacked into.

Paypal is our payment gateway and they are trying to go through paypal to make their payment, more than likely with their credit card through paypal. You would still get the paypal button if you check to pay through paypal :) Just wanted to let you all know that our payment gateway is paypal :)

Wait, you mean that if someone uses their credit card here your merchant account that processes non Paypal payments is Paypal?  If so then it's hard to believe the hacking is in that gateway.

(I was referring to the OP about using paypal, by loading the cart, then logging into paypal to transfer funds, then back to here to pay via paypal)

Yes, that is correct, our payment gateway is Paypal, whether you use your credit card here or your paypal account :)

Paypal has never suffered a breach.

Wow, I must have dreamt those extra charges on my Paypal account and the nightmare in dealing with their fraud department.  As I have said before it was along time ago and they may have changed and many use Paypal without a problem but that does not mean it is fraud proof, it isn't.  Not only that it is not regulated as a tightly as a bank.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I am yes, going to JUST enter my paypal e mail and password, so I never enter my cc number again... grins gleefully! .... and yes, I've 'hooked up' a card to my brand new pay pal!   I have also, now, listened to my friend check out this way with HER paypal account/card here, so I am all set! AND JUST IN TIME to empty out my wish list and get MARCH RENDER REWARDS! WOOO HOOO!! YIPPEEEE! :)
