Subject: Any hockey fans out there?

I've been considering doing a series of hockey jerseys for Poser characters, and thought before I got started, I'd see if there was any community interest. If there is, I'll be contacting the NHL for permission to use the logos and colour schemes of their teams. There would probably be some cost involved in licensing these, so they're likely (assuming there's enough interest to make it worth my time) to be store items. What I'd like to hear from anyone who might be interested are answers to the following questions: 1) Assuming these are well done (I won't release them until I'm happy with them, and I'm usually pretty particular), would you consider buying them? 2) Michael and Victoria, or Dork and Posette? Perhaps Michael and Dork? 3) Would you rather see them sold as individual jerseys, as team sets (home/road/alternate where applicable), as Conference or Division sets, or the whole set? 4) What would you consider a reasonable price? I don't know what licensing is going to cost, but unless it's incredibly high, if there's enough interest, I was thinking something like $30 for the full set (which would be home/road/alt for all the teams for whichever characters are chosen) or $5 for each team's jerseys (again, as above). 5) Would you be interested in National team jerseys as well, or other leagues? 6) Should each team's best players or all-stars be featured on the jerseys (number/name)? Would you buy one of these if it were a "special order" item- fully customizable to whatever name and number you'd like? Thanks! Your feedback will let me know if it's worth it to do the set or not.

Oh yes. One more thing. Would you like new geometries to give an "over the pads" look for the male character(s), or would you rather have them dress like fans going to a game? Either is probably possible, but I wouldn't want to take the time to create a new geometry unless there are a lot of people who want one.

I would love a jersey/hockey player and I know some people would like to see the jersey so they could do football etc. The base geometry is the biggest thing for me. I can do the textures but I can't model. I like it for Michael but the dork would be cool and the females as well. Here is what I would do. Build em and put a generic "Poser Hockey Night" jersey. One for home and away. After that the licensing may come but the NHL might bite you big time on the costs and all. Even MacFarlane couldn't put it on the toys until this latest or to be released series. If you do get permission you can sell them in sets for cheap. Good luck and hope that helps.

I'll take it...if it is Curtis Joseph! Go Leafs Go! I have already started on working on one of his all-star jerseys... will have to share that if you want ;)

By the looks of your picture that would be a render of a goal mask? If so where did you find it. I've been looking for one but unsuccessfully.

That mask was created by little old me :) I created several months back in a program called Blender. I have not as of yet converted for use in Poser... but it is on its way :) Glad you like it! Will try to post up a message when it is available in the Freestuff area :) Matt

Awesome, that's great to hear. What format is it in now?

Cujo31 ( ) posted Wed, 10 October 2001 at 10:47 AM

It is a format called "blend" which is native to Blender. That is what the texturing is done in as well. In the future. I will convert it to probably OBJ and then rework the textures for use in Poser... will take a little while as I have a busy week, but expect it next week sometime :) (HOPEFULLY LOL) Matt
