Subject: 'Tis for the Glory #12 - 'Fly with me'

MarkBremmer ( ) posted Mon, 01 June 2015 at 2:01 PM · edited Wed, 11 December 2024 at 8:31 PM

Pimpy, friend of FIFA, was fantastic and faced victory favorably. His winning privilege has been exercised and the new topic is:

I'm so happy that for the next time the theme is ... "fly with me!"

Post your entries in this thread. Challenge ends Saturday night, June 6 at 12 midnight Hawaii time.

I don't really know where this is going to go. Naughty flight attendants, morphing maggots, Frank Sinatra. It is with great pride and anticipation that I unleash this subject to the creative super-powers of the Carrara community.

Everybody sing now, "It's the Circle of Life, And it moves us all..."

Didn't see that one coming. Heh,heh.

Disturbingly fun. Unfortunately, this image is based on actual wildlife in the Australian outback. Despite Wonga's narrative, this is a photograph and not an illustration.

hacked up the poser fly and G2 scarecrow.. made the dodgy looking spray can and textured it, used Carrara text tool and jolab's splatter model & Raw's severed limbs..

Aspirational imagery of the best kind. My paper airplanes always ended up a nose like an accordion.

Attack Formation!

Made in the vertex modeler - this model could really use a bit more work but I'm going to go with my usual "good enough" standard. :)

I will say that I think the subsurface worked nicely to show the sun glowing through the higher planes - I think I'm starting to get the hang of that channel.

@mdo2010 - Really nice work and render.

I'm bummed!

Not enough time to finish my entry.  :-(

MarkBremmer ( ) posted Mon, 08 June 2015 at 9:17 AM

Do you know what these challenges are doing? They're filling up my hard-drive with almost-completed imagery. I couldn't come out to play on this one either de3an!

But, enough whining about me and my first-world problems.

MDO2010 created a delightful image and wins. May the wind be always at your back.

Please post your theme choice in this thread. And, if I can have any influence over your winning ways, let's have a subject that is both fun, but also specifies an aspect of Carrara's tools. ie. insects and particle generators, or the Replicator and simple shapes, or reflective surfaces and ambient occlusion, etc. (maybe even something you don't know how to use well...)

I mean, we all work within our comfort areas - usually. Let's have uncomfortable challenges where we can learn new things!

Just a thought, you're the winner MDO2010.

Congratulations MDO2010!

Mark,
Even working within my comfort zone I was unable to complete my image within the allotted one week period. (Less, actually. It's usually Monday or Tuesday before the next theme is announced.)

Perhaps a two week span would be more accommodating?

How about "Splines and Things That Rhyme with Splines" for the next theme. :)

For those who are as bad at rhyming as I am with the Spline modeler...

Just so it wasn't a complete waste of effort, this is what I was working on when I ran out of time:

Thanks Mark.

I don't know how awesome it is, but it was too much fun not to share.
