 Blender has all these tools and more.
It is called soft selection or proportional editing.
Lots of tutorials on the "tube us all" channel. LOL.

Yup, Blender.

I used to use Hexagon a long time ago, but being a DAZ product it got so unreliable I had to give-up on it.  It has some nice tools, but as Vilters points out, Blender has them too (and they actually work properly).  Look into Blender's Proportional Editing tool, and of course the sculpting tools, you might especially find the Grab Brush useful for tweaking as it's very similar to Proportional Editing in what it gives as a result.

Make sure you turn-off the automatic-retopolgy if you use the sculpting tools.  As you're used to sculpting in ZBrush, it's important to remember that Blender can rebuild the topology as you sculpt.  It's ideal for when you're fleshing-out a new sculpt, but when you don't want it to change the topology, you have to switch that option off before you sculpt.  One other thing that you might like is the adjustable auto-smoothing on the sculpt tools, which again, can be used with or without auto-topology.  It's a great thing to have because if you set it to the right level, it keeps things looking even while you sculpt, instead of having to constantly switch between tools.

Wings has a Tweak feature  (it's literally called that). Last I checked, it's a direct manipulation of the vertices without constraint to an axis. I think it supports soft selection but I forget. 

Blender is a good tool but not for everyone. If you have tried it in the past and found the interface less than friendly, you probably still will, as it hasn't really changed enough in my opinion to make itself more accessible.  That said, it has many powerful modeling features and should be considered just like any other modeling app.

Edit:

One of the saddest things ever is the decision by Nevercenter to call Silo "finished". It has/had an excellent modeling feature set and still manages to get things done in fewer clicks than bigger apps like Modo. However, unlike Modo, it has not advanced its modeling feature set and has already begun to fade in terms of relevance. That said, it's interface is very uncluttered - almost the exact opposite of Blender, which can result in a similar feeling of being "lost". So if you're considering Silo at all, take those things into account. I wouldn't be the modeler I am today without it but I'm fast becoming hard pressed to feel good recommending it due to the unlikely possibility of it being updated.

Now if you have a bit more cash, Modo really is an excellent modeler - takes a few more clicks to get things done and some functions have Hexagon's annoying need to be terminated even after you've released the mouse but it's becoming used more widely - especially now with it having some integration with Mari (I think even some of the paint tools are borrowed from Mari now). The Mesh Fusion feature is quite possibly one of the coolest things ever and the community is very giving, very friendly, and very knowledgable. If you can't afford Max or Maya or Houdini, I'd suggest Modo on the strength of it's wide range of modeling tools alone but the interface is also has a little bit of a learning curve if you're coming from another app after years of using it.  I wish I could say anything about Lightwave - I only used it very briefly back in version 5.0 but that's another mid-priced modeler that still has use out in the world.

In Wings the soft selection is called Magnet and you can adjust the radius on the fly, hold Alt and drag with the mouse to resize the purple circle of influence. I think wings Tweak is a sort of screen-axis drag. Very flexible.

How does Hexagon and Blender compare with Zbrush?  I recently lost my funding and am unable to purchase Zbrush and I hope that these programs will work as well for customizing characters for the MP.

Between the two sculpting is probably better in Blender than in Hexagon. Having owned and used Hexagon from version 1 in the Eovia days to version 2 with Daz, I would say the sculpting tools aren't robust when compared to ZBrush. Neither is Blender's but Blender is constantly being developed, while Daz seems uninterested in working on Hexagon for whatever reason.

I don't know what MP is and I don't use zBrush or Mudbox for morphing V4 or any mesh.
and this will come down to what app clicks with you.Vilter's a Blender fan ,Teyon not so much.

 

I like MudBox best buy far for sculpting even better then zBrush for sculpting but zBrush has a lot of tools mudbox does not.MudBox is $10.00 a month.

Blender had difficulties with high polycounts but alt to be ok with 60,000 & the smooth shadier not as good as MudBoxes.

never tried sculpting in Hexagon youtube videos look O.K. it has a reputation of being unstable.

 

always best to try the demos for ya self cause only you can say forsure.

 don't know why but mudbox is just smoother then blender or zbrush.

blender and zBrush sculpts are bumpy and mudboxes is just smooth.

This is very helpful. My finances are at zero for now, I just spent the last  of my budget on merchant resources. I have both Hexagon and Blender on my computer.

If you have both then give them both a try.  I have limited experince of either,  but what experience I have is that Blender would be the better of the two if you can get you head around the UI.  Hexagon was never that stable on my computer and as the development seems to be at a standstill I couldn't see it getting any better.  In fact, come to think of it, I uninstalled it some time ago.

 

 

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

 Long time ago, I build  and morphed in anim8or.
Vertex, by vertex, by vertex. => That's how I got my affection for the lower polygon figures. LOL. => Less vertex to move. => And you realy have to work hard to get something.

Then came Hexagon, (thanks to DAZ give away), and I realy liked Hexagon. => Ok, you had to save a lot, as it crashes a lot. => But it could have become a nice app if they had continued working on it. I even wrote some tutorials for it at the time.

Now using Blender, and never looked back.

Sounds like your settings are messed up on both counts.

Blender is silky smooth even on my old system, absolutely no lag at all, even the interface itself is one of the few programs I have that doesn't have an annoying flicker when resizing things - it's all silky smooth here.  Have you made sure the threaded-sculpt option is switched on?

Regards bumpiness, it sounds like you have the curve for the the brush tip set wrong, and bear in mind that the options you see under the Brush section aren't the only Brush options.  Don't forget to expand that area on the bottom left.  I can't compare Blender's sculpting tools to MudBox cause I've never used it, but they're definitley nicer to use than those in ZBrush - so there's definitely something wrong there, somewhere.

probably the skilless RorrKonn trying to be a Artist ;) I just click best with muddboxx. if blender clicks with you best ,cool.

when I get the time think I'm going to cheek out Houdini.

Just so you know, I wasn't propping-up Blender (it doesn't need propping-up).
I was pointing out that if it's lagging and bumpy, your have settings wrong somewhere.

Can't comment on Houdini, looks cool but I don't use it.

I hope you don't mind me asking (and RorrKonn mind me asking here), but was it you who said you have problems with your eyes and contrast etc?

I've been playing around, on and off, creating my own Blender theme, and I'm curious what it is about contrast that throws peoples eyes off and makes things illegible for them.  Is it too much contrast or not enough contrast that makes things illegible for you?  How does the off-white text on the orange elements look to you?  I mean is it easily legible, or does it make it harder than on the default theme?

And be honest, don't worry about hurting my feelings, it's just a curiosity really cause I see it a lot, some people find even muted colour unbearably bright or hard to read.  That's assuming I got it right, I recall someone around here mentioning it and for some reason I keep thinking it was you.

I take it Boni wasn't impressed then!

Ah well, doesn't matter, I've made it into a Cyan scheme now.  I wish there was a way to change that bloody font though, other than the size I mean.
If anyone knows a way to do that, please spit it out cause I'm not the biggest fan of that default font.
