Subject: Semi On/Semi Off topic - life, freebies, kids and stuff

A little while back I promised a tutorial on rigging in Poser, with a free model for you to complete.  I haven't forgotten about it but life has been getting in the way recently.

Samuel, my 5 year old son, has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Ilona, his younger sister, is about  to begin assessment for the same thing.  They're both very bright and communicative, very capable and lovely little people.  But boy oh boy do they ever take some looking after.  Consequently, whenever I get some time to myself, all I want to do is veg.

That said, I will get on with the tutorial - the modelling is finished, I just need to write up the text - and post it asap.  There are some other freebies cluttering up me Runtime, so I'll give them a final sanding and coat of varnish then throw 'em out into the wild.

As for Sam, I've always believed him to be a potential genius and it seems I was right.  School say he's "very talented and a model student", the consultants who have been doing his assessment say he's "academically very gifted".  Ilona is probably going to be the same.  I'm a very proud (but tired) Daddy. :)

Is there any thing we can do to help?

Autism can cover a wide range. You might be advised to just be aware of some issues but not tret them specifically, just ensure they socialize.  That said get advice from several sources if possible.

Good to see you on the forum again, Sam. My prayers to you and yours. Family is the most important thing we have. Some of us just don't realize it.

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Thanks, all.  We're all doing well.  House is like a bomb site most of the time but at least the kids are healthy and happy.  Mom and Dad are bone tired, though.  :D

@ Boni - Nope, not unless you care to come over here and act as child minder/referee for a few hours each day.  And have a word with the guy upstairs to make more hours in a day.  ;)

@ markschum - We have a wealth of info on tap and access to more if we need it.  There are numerous groups and organizations which can offer help for us, too.  As for socializing, that's no problem since they are both at school.  Sam is full time, Ilona half days.  She goes full time in September.  Both of them are very sociable anyhow.  If anything, too much so, which is also one of the behaviours noted in Sam's diagnosis.
