Subject: Website should stop using Adobe Flash

Kazam561 ( ) posted Wed, 22 July 2015 at 3:25 AM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 5:42 AM

Just in the past 2 months, Adobe has had 3 major security problems with Flash. It got so bad that Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome both disabled Flash until it was patched (twice). If the website doesn't need it (and any feature done in flash can be done with something else) they (the web designers) should dump it. Too many security issues. By the way, all users need to make sure they have the most recent version of Flash (or consider uninstalling it).

The dust settled, thinking "what a fine home, at least for now" not realizing that doom would soon be coming in the form of a vacuum cleaner.

Thanks!

Much appreciated! With all the Adobe flash updates due to security issues, there's quite the number of tech experts calling for it to be phased out. This last batch of security warnings included an immediate update by Microsoft (deviating from their normal Tuesday update cycle). Windows users please remember to patch....

You too :) Yep, the current version of Firefox and flash don't get along together very well. Adobe flash is kind of a buggy mess. Even cell phone manufacturers are calling for it to come to an end. Hopefully Adobe will make a decision soon.

Flash is coughing up blood... It is soon not to be in this world. At least, not in web design applications, that's for sure. It would be a smart move to get away from it, before it implodes. :)

Totally agree. Too many security issues, especially of late. Adobe's been patching almost as much as Microsoft, but flash can be buggy on a lot of browsers too, causing website page slowdowns.

New news about Amazon and Google Chrome browsers and Adobe Flash

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/aug/24/adobe-flash-dying-amazon-google-chrome?

So Chrome will automatically (no extension or scripts needed) pause Flash advertisement while Amazon has stopped using them completely on their websites. If Google follows up what it's doing with Chrome, expect Android OS to do the same in the future.
