Subject: Grab Bag?

Dulcinea ( ) posted Thu, 30 July 2015 at 10:12 AM · edited Sun, 27 October 2024 at 4:41 PM

Excuse me, but can someone tell us where the actual list of free items is?  We can see the list of contributers, but where is the one for the actual items? Help!  We are very confused.

I try and try again to understand... even by adding to my cart some items that I thought THE FREE ITEMS.

None is recognized as items at $ 0.01.

So, if someone has understood, please HELP !!!

Be warned! There is no choice of product or any indication of what you're going to get. I've just purchased an item from my wishlist and used the Grab Bag. I have ended up with a random product dumped into my purchases, something I've no interest in or use for.

I suppose I haven't actually lost anything but it does feel like misrepresentation.

Hello,

There is not a list of actual products. You will add the "grab bag product" to your cart 1 time on each order.

The system randomly selects a product and adds it to your account.

It is a grab bag which means a surprise product, just as if you purchase a grab bag from a physical retail store.

oh, now, that's just silly.  most retailers these days actually disclose what goodies one receives to entice you even further to participate.  whilst i've heaps of appreciation for the freebies that merchants attach to certain purchased items of their [non-grab bag days since this event doesn't require specific items to BE purchased aside from price], and i can appreciate the idea here that Rendo is leaning towards, i do think this could've been organised or thought through better.

thanks for the info, zicsov, of the apparent randomness.  i know if i had more control, or say, over what i might receive if participating, i'd most likely be making a number of purchases today.  like you, my needs/desires for certain types of things is within defined parametres.

plus, that kind of offer of choice would also mitigate the need to turn off the 'already purchased' feature.

The Grab Bag is a fun thing!   The whole idea is that you're not supposed to know what you are getting, other than it will be a quality item representing some participating vendor's work (and every item I've ever received has not been a shlock or second rate item). While there have been items I haven't used yet, there also have been items that I would not have otherwise purchased that turned out to be really enjoyable and an unexpected pleasure!  They gave me a new appreciation for a vendor's work that I was otherwise passing over. Other examples are 2D picks that two years ago I was not really into, but now two years later I am glad to have them in my library.

My question in this thread, the reason I came here:

If I have an order with more than one item that meets the $3.50 criteria (say 3 items in the order) and I apply the grab-bag, do I get one matching grab-bag per item (three grab-bags) or is it exactly one grab-bag per order?

I'm assuming one grab-bag per order, but I thought I'd ask.

It's one grab bag per order :)

I have mixed feelings about the grab bags. Once I got something that amused me, something I never would've gotten on my own but may find a use for. Once I got something that was completely useless, a texture for an item I have no intention of buying (and to Renderosity's credit, when I sent email about that, they sent me a different random item, which was very nice.). Recently, I got a kink item that I haven't complained about, but it's nothing I'm interested in, and it seems, well, like the sort of thing that shouldn't be in a general grab bag. If you're going to keep doing the grab bags, you might give people an option for a general grab bag or a mature one.

Vendors decide what items they would like to offer in the Grab bag. We do it because it is something fun and different for members to participate in.

Hopefully you get other products you will be happy with.

I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend! :)

actually, let's be really honest here:  the whole idea is to get you to spend money... this is not a judgement or anything, it's just fact... [shrug]
