Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 6:57 am)
I think they may be looking for vilter's girlfriend. Lol. Cool models man!

Is this the Vilter that you are referring to?
Please tell me about any faults in these models.
Nah, vilters is a guy who used to post here on the forum for years. He hasn't been around lately, kind of an obscure joke. Although the compressor reference is funny too. :)
Did using an external runtime work for fixing the file paths?

To get the offending paths to relative form, I text-edited the .cr2 file.
Also, the only way to get alternate geometries into a .cr2 file, that I know of, is text-editing the .CR2 file.
I got the shape from an industrial air suction pipe connection that I saw long ago.
The breathing tube comes out low, so it can come out under a visor attached to a work helmet. Work helmets with visors can be bought here in England.
Yeah, it's 2 blocks of text. As I pointed out to you before Ajax's EasyPoseUnderground can automate that for you, but it's really not that mind boggling to do with just a simple text editor. Anyway, if you want to avoid having to continually edit your file paths try my external runtime suggestion. Take it easy Anthony.

The fault seems to be: If a model has an alternate geometry, if I select an alternate geometry rather than that part's default geometry, then that currently selected alternate geometry's link-to-file (and it seems, also any other alternate geometries which have been selected during that run of Poser) saves to the resulting .cr2 file as the absolute form starting with C: and with backslashes. Other alternate geometries in that part of the character, save to .CR2 with their filename addresses correctly as the relative form starting with :Runtime: and with colons.
It seems that selecting an alternate geometry, makes Poser overwrite something that it shouldn't when reading that alternate geometry's geometry file address when displaying to screen, instead of using a separate other buffer for that temporary working. It seems that a Poser 10 bug report is needed.
I use Poser 10 for PC, but I do most work in an extra runtime folder named C:/Poser4/.... ; where '/' is backslash.
Automatically replacing every backslash by colon, also damages any non-geometry absolute file links which must stay absolute, such as to a background image which is stored away from the Poser setup files.
I think the only way you are going to be able to use the figure as you intended is to create 3 separate figures. I don't think Poser's library is sophisticated enough to handle the alt geometry I the way you want it to.
Just my 2 cents.
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

The mask model, on my PC, works OK, and it has alternate geometry on the 2 parts 'mask' and 'hemisphere'. The bug is :: if I select any alternate geometry choices, even if only temporarily, during that Poser run, and then save the model to library as a character, then in that saved .CR2 file, the descriptions of the alternate geometries that I selected during that run, save with their geometry file addresses as absolute form starting with C: , whereas I would prefer relative form starting with :Runtime:
Ah, I see. I'm missing the saving to library part. Haven't checked that yet. Generally all of my after the fact .cr2 modifications are done solely on the already saved .cr2 so I'm not encountering the resaving to library bug. Good to know. Once my .cr2's are at their final stages I try to avoid saving to the library like the plague precisely because it introduces all kinds of overwriting variables (changing file paths and limits settings from 4 to 1 for instance). I have a geometry switching .cr2 that I need to add a bunch of morphs to so I guess I'd better get my text editor warmed up. PITA.

Good idea, and thanks for discovering this. I would have been baffled otherwise.

Made by Anthony Appleyard. Also in the freestuff. Please report any faullts to me.
It is set up with my workman model (the version with closed cuffs) wearing it. He should be downloaded separately, if you have not already installed him in your Poser.
Hereinunder, for
c:Poser' read whatever folder your Poser is in.
Folder' means `directory', for those who remember times before Windows 95.The models (which will appear in the character folders DiversBreathingmasks) are:-
brmask_hemisphere.cr2 , the mask alone
brmask_hemisphere_industaql.cr2 , man in boilersuit with aqualung-type industrial breathing set with the mask
brmask_hemisphere_industrebr.cr2 , man in boilersuit with backpack rebreather breathing set in casing with the mask
The mask's part "mask" has alternate geometry to choose between 3 shapes (2 round windows, 2 joined round windows, big curved window).
The mask's part "hemisphere" has alternate geometry to choose between 3 shapes (2 hose connections, one hose connection, hose connection and blowoff valve); and has Translate parameter dials, so it can be unclipped from the mask and let dangle on its user's chest.
The rebreather's part "backpack" has alternate geometry to choose between 3 shapes.
