Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 13 3:49 pm)
IMHO dynamics are worth the extra effort. I might see if I can do a scifi texture as well. If I can find something doable.
Here's a texture I just finished. I think the shirt is a little too busy for the vest. I might do something else with shirt and use that shirt for another set. Though I'll probably try to have them all be able to mix and match.

I redid the shirt. But made a texture to go with the patterned shirt.
Not sure I like the light pants but I'll include them.

Been working on a series of native American/White settler inspired images for a while. NOT A REALISTIC interpretation AT ALL.....of the proud people our American Government and white ancestors pretty much did a good job ethnic cleansing but a fun project with a common thread running through to keep me rendering while depression tries to wreck me. Not sure if i could post it here but I think I can include a link to me Deviant Art gallery.

I'm flagging it now that he has some skin.
LIke the character. Being so top heavy is ok as a toon figure. I think, for whatever that is worth, that having added a third bone in the legs making them digitigrade would have added so much to it and balanced the proportions making the bottom half of the body look capable of better holding up the bullish top half of it. But like i said just my opinion.

I've been working on this, but I'm not sure I'm happy with it. What's everyone else's opinion so far?
Hair needs work. Looks like it is hovering over the shoulder instead of it would do....drape over the shoulder. Fix that and it looks cool.
I normally wouldn't share my WIP in public, but since this one is nearing completion, I decided why not. I'm finishing up the Displacement maps now and will hopefully have it done by Halloween.
Welcome to the Pharaoh's Garden....
Have a creative day!

I've been working off-and-on for quite some time now (in between more important projects) on this Anime-inspired Urban Mini Attack Chopper and just finally finished the Pilot's Uniforms for Hiro 3 and my Anime Girl Kristin to go with it...
I'm also working on some alternate textures for it, including this set of Bubblegum Crisis inspired AD Police fan textures...

Just a casual "one day" exercise, Ash Williams from the "Evil Dead" films which I composed yesterday in time for the "Ash vs. Evil Dead" series debuting on Starz.
Care to guess the base figure?

Older, Michael 2, actually, enhanced by Beth Capsces' "Boris" morphs. I won't be so elitist as to claim M2 is a better figure than others, but I already had morphed and saved a character with a strong chin "on file" and it served as a solid basis for a Bruce Campbell likeness. It didn't hurt that Mike 2's default wardrobe came with a button down shirt with morphs to unbutton it.
Sincerely,
Bill

Nice piece of Fan Art there, as always.

Thanks for the kind assessment. Let's just say having watched the "Evil Dead" marathon Friday culminating in a special early broadcast of the series premiere, I was "inspired". I set the DVR to record them so I wouldn't be up two thirds of the night, but dang it, I wound up watching them "live" and didn't retire until 2 AM. Thus I felt compelled to stage and render something yesterday.
Sincerely,
Bill

Still one of my all time favorite effects sequences, really clever and inspirational stuff, way more magical than much of the contemporary cg effects nowadays...
...The artist that did the effects, Tom Sullivan, also created much of the artwork for the original editions of Chaosium's 'Call of Cthulhu' RPG.

I'm working on a new WW2 Battleship to go with my USS Arizona. The new model is of the USS Nevada, also attacked at Pearl Harbour (though unlike Arizona, the Nevada was salvaged, repaired, and put back to sea to participate in the rest of the war in the Pacific)...
I've included a grey model render of both models together for comparison...
I'd started on the Nevada some time ago (right after I'd finished the Arizona actually), but got side tracked with other projects and so she's sat in my WIP folders waiting for me to finish her...

Excellent work on the Nevada.
Thanks! She's been sitting for a while and I'd gotten the modelling done but hadn't gotten around to painting the textures on her or setting up the rigging. I dug the unfinished model out of my WIP folders and started on texturing yesterday... :)

To go along with my Ash figure. It's Jim Farris' book with flipping pages using an image I found on-line as a texture/displacement map, turning it into the infamous "Necronomicon ex Mortis", the source of all of ash's woes. Just an evening's bit of experimentation, nothing that elaborate.

Started sculpting again. Hope to complete this character for Poser.
Not sure what to do with the lower half though. Options: Could go all troll like or I could go Centaur for a chubby centaur with horns. I could do some other kind of hybrid also. Or I could cop out and do demon legs with tiny wings on his back. What do you guys think? Also, if I do the wings and make him for Poser, do you guys prefer wings with separate, flat poly membranes or wings like Dregon's that have thickness? I'm not partial to either.
i know im late here but as much as i like what your in fact working on, would have loved a fat centaur....love centaurs and have just about all those offered up or sold in the community. this would have been a great addition.

Thanks for the comments guys. Here's an update, I remade some parts, added more detail and got it crudely rigged to test it, and presto! it actually works just like it's supposed to. The model is under 19 000 polys at the moment, that's about what's in Vicky's hands and feet, so I'm happy with that, considering how much detail is in this thing. It'll have some different options for things like wheels, armrests and controls, I haven't figured out whether to handle that with geometry swapping or just smart props on a basic figure.
What's up with this forum software? The last image I uploaded was about 400k, but it's over 900k on this forum? Lets see if the same thing happens to this one.
Oooh, I really hope that one will be up for sale! I'm looking for such a thing, for my X-men renders, and Professor X right now rolls around on a desk-chair with flat cilinders for wheels. Which... looks horrid. xD And your power wheelchair really looks AMAZING!
I've worked up a release-able Superfly material setup for Stonemason's Level 19:
This shot shows both of the doorsets. The doors on the left have a solid wall slab behind them, so I made a billboard to slip in just behind the doors; the billboard uses LightPath ambient boost and actually casts light into the Level 19 main room! :D
The doors on the right can be opened/hidden, and I made a T-shaped corridor to give the camera something to see through the door glass (or if you have the doors opened).
The new add-on corridor:
This is Stonemason's add-on cargo bay doors for Level 19, with my Superfly material setup:

Addendum...
The containers have been altered quite a lot since the render, and now have brackets which fit to the Utility Belt, also there are two sets of double containers, as in the movie versions. Next up will be the grapnel gun and some mini mines.
On the GT-5, the switchy things switch, the turny things turn, the pressy things press and the lighty things light. Just need to finish up the textures for the bits around the other side, and a bit of tidying up on the pedal rig, which is a sort of crank thing.

I'm just getting into dynamic clothing thanks to a tutorial sent to me by rokket. I love how it doesn't shred even in that extreme pose. I was also thinking it would be a cool scifi outfit as well.
