what about the new image size restrictions? Tell me one reason for this.
Undo the new image size restritions and the thumbnail thing and everything is okay. If not I will not upload more images here and if I buy new stuff at your store I am not sure. I do not like to buy stuff at a company that gives one a slap in the face.
I have not posted an image to the gallery here in over a year because I got sick of all of the limitations. Do you know how hard it is to shrink an image from 5 megs to 512 k without losing its integrity? Now the Gallery has Infinite Scroll. That means I will no longer even visit the gallery.
Deviant Art Rules!
Wow... The new gallery is um... Interesting. Can it please be changed in at least one respect... If we mess up when posting a pic based on the new rules, it seems we have to start all over, rather than use the browser back button. This may well keep me from posting a lot here. And let's face it, when people post their art with Renderosity products, it's advertising for Renderosity... Many people often buy the things they see in gallery pics.
Agreed. There have definitely been cases where having renders in the gallery convinced me to buy something when the vendor's own renders left me unsure I liked it enough.
On that basis alone, I'd recommend not dissuading folks from posting gallery images. (Presumably, unintentional dissuasion, but still.)
When I saw that there was going to be website overhaul I was personally excited. Having seen website updates in Render over the years the changes made have certainly been incremental but the underlying layout/information available and usabilty was the same - consistency was appreciated. So with this revamp I'm thinking not only will they do away with limitations but there will be more features, customization etc etc. So after seeing the 'big' changes in effect here's my take on them:
Gallery presentation. The way images are presented works great for the likes of tumbler and other sites but for the presention of images for an artist there's something to be said about uniformity and easy on the eye. If someone chooses to post a series of different sized images in a particular sequence it is very hard for the eye to follow this sequence.
Reduced Image size limitations (biggest grievance). I am truly astonished that someone would actually OK this, especially as someone else aptly put it, how can you sell a product when you can't assess the quality and detail? Personally for me this change does not take into consideration panoramic formats of which majority of my works are. I struggled with the old limitations but these put a further shackle on the quality that I can post.
Removal of Auto-thumbnail generation. Do you know how much time this saved when it was implimented? I refused to use it initally, but once I did use it, that was time saved where I wasn't having to create another image. Uploaded one image, done.
Lack of Statistics/Information. Simple imformation like how many posts one has made allows one to maybe prepare something special for a milestone number.
Ultimately alot of the issues I have and many others have is that somethings were fine as they were. Change is good, but would it have been hard to offer it as an option? How about this, offer the changes as a choice befitting the artist: A crowded gallery or a uniform gallery?, More image info or less image info? Etc etc.
I truly hope concerns listened to and in the least allow us a choice?
I've been a member of the site since around 2006.The one thing I have learned is. Renderosity does not care what any of us have to say. As long as the site continues to generate money, they will continue to run it what ever way they see fit with complete and utter disregard for the community. Even if that means running it into the ground, Which is what they have been doing. This site went from being the best to being thee very worst of digital content sites.
This site has lost some of its best artist, artist who do promotional work for the vendors exclusively. Its lost some of their best members and vendors. The few big vendors they have left, many of them no longer have exclusivity to Renderosity. Off the top of my head I can name at least five other digital content sites that I prefer over Renderosity.
Renderosity is dead... Flickrosity is born... and - sorry if I am blunt - I don't like it.
Another (once) beautiful site killed by this insane smartphone-frenzy. It's likely that many of the old members (PC users) will leave.
Goodbye and good luck with the new & future members belonging to the crowd that enjoys to tap all the day those tiny 3" x 3" screens.
Citing my "Loading Failed" directly above. Even worse now... I just uploaded a pic and couldn't add a single image credit for products used that came directly here from Renderosity. This really should be a matter of concern, because as already stated, people sometimes buy based things they see credited for images.
Additionally, as a customer, when I clicked on "Gallery" tab of several product pages this morning, there were no images showing (in cases where I know there should have been).
Am I the only one that preferred, as a gallery-using customer (not as a vendor), the text-link list on credits? The new thumbnail system looks like a bunch of ads (and someone I know said as much). She was like, "Why are there a bunch of ads on your picture?" I looked and realized she was confusing ads with the credits list...
Hey @tiggersprings-- It seems that when the system cannot find the type of vendor products, it says, "loading failed." This might be a dumb question, but you're sure the vendor and vendor product matches correct?

I really don't understand what you mean... This morning, it wouldn't let me put anything at all there. On the very first attempt to credit someone's product, it started saying "Loading Failed."
I wasn't trying to credit my own stuff, if that's what you mean...
So, here's the pic I was posting and was trying to add credits for:
https://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/lovely-laschae/2638543
Of the Renderosity products (that are still actively available), the credits should have looked something like this:
Fabiana - Eternal Kyra
Fabiana - Warm & Soul Lights
Ilona - Emotional Layers
ironman13 - Real Details
Lilflame - Extra Large Earrings
The form wouldn't accept a single credit at all from above. The minute I tried to credit the first vendor, I got "Loading Failed."
If it matters, I'm using Firefox 40.0.2.
Please try using Chrome and let me know what happens.
Thanks!
When I tried using Chrome, it worked for me. View my screenshot below:

Hope, I tried uploading in Chrome ( 44.0.2403.157). I could add credit until I got to the fourth one, then got "Loading Failed). However, when I pressed the button to submit, I just got a white page, with no error. And it did not look like my image posted.
Retried in Firefox (40.0.2), and still got the "Loading Failed" on credits when I tried adding a third credit, but submission went through at least twice...
The whole site is very, very slow in Chrome 44.0.2403.157 and we have a very fast broadband connection. Firefox is my browser of choice, so i hope that the programmers aren't concentrating on Chrome entirely for compatibility.
Please also consider doing away with the infinited scrolling in the gallery pages. It keeps making both browsers hang up.
I have noticed that the thumbnails in the Marketplace now present in a nice orderly uniform sizes which makes viewing alot more easier on the eye. When will this format be available/transferred to artists gallery thumbnails?? - I dislike the messy presentation with a passion, the eye just goes everywhere.
Hi @A_Joker_B-- Please see the thread that talks about the new image sizes below:
https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/?thread_id=2893261
The thumbnail is optional now and "will be automatically generated on upload if left blank." The gallery stats are a combination of products, free stuff, and gallery stats. As for the gallery concern, we appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration.
@Tiggersprings-- Let me look into why when you wanted to add a 4th credit, it failed. Thanks so much for letting us know!

Sorry Hope, I just want to clarify something as I don't think my last question was answered.
Seeing that automatic thumbnails are now turned on, does this mean that the thumbnail generated will have the same size irrespective of the actual image itself? So say if I posted 4 images of different sizes, the automatic thumbnails generated will all present in a unform line just like they did before the upgrade?
If yes, then will there be some automatic update of the existing thumbnails as I do not think manually re-autothumbnailing every image in my gallery is acceptable.
If no, then I ask again, seeing at the Marketplace seems to have images displayed with uniform thumbnails, when will this be coming to artist galleries? (IMHO If it can be done with Marketplace, then it can be done with other peoples galleries).
Is there a limit on how many Renderosity products we can now credit?
I made it to six, but gone one wrong (chose wrong product). Went back to fix it. So, I removed number six and... Now I cannot go any further, because I get the loading failed message.
I also had several other currently active products from the marketplace to credit. sigh
II use Firefox 40.0.2.

Recognizing that the new is always controversial, and that people like myself staid in their old habits dislike changing them, I would still like to point out my main issue with the new gallery system: It is less functional than the old one. Before, one could search specific times of posting for every imaginable identifying factor in the galleries. It may be that one can still do this, but it isn't intuitively clear to me as to how it would be done. I liked the old system for image searching much better than the new one.
