Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

Dear Rendo,
You've done it again, you have messed around with the site which has just settled done and gotten working again, and now once more, I GET NO E-BOTS!!!! Why can't you bloody leave things be, are you bored?? My home 'page' is a complete pile of shit, I hate it!!! I would never do it like that, I can see no avatars, none show.. I assume they don't see mine either.. Well done there as well.. AND further more I'm swamped with bloody adverts.. I feel like throwing the PC out the window, I threatened to leave if you f***ed up again and you have...

Sadly they've put back the things they tried a year ago design wise that customers hated and spoke up about vigorously against. Whoever is in charge will see profits go down drastically. They need to step down (or be fired) certainly after the end of year result.

Hi from Wasaga Beach, Ontario - this is my first and only post after being a member of what was a great site. The new format is awkward, unpleasant to view and difficult to navigate.
This site was beautiful and well organized and now it has lot all symmetry and beauty. What an ugly presentation. Please revert to previous presentation. Thanks.

debbielove ( ) posted Wed, 19 August 2015 at 5:17 AM

Tried to post 6 times yesterday, site refused me for 3 (yes 3) different reasons, each time I corrected them.. I gave up and until site is put back to the way it was I will no longer post and will remove most of my work..
I am not the only person to have do this, I have had mails (private as no e-bots working again)from 4 who are also not posting any more or are posting their last..
Sadly, you seem to be obsessed with Tech and becoming a 'with it' site.. What you don't realise is most of your user base are NOT young and tech obsessed like you.. IF there are any original Rendo folk running this site now step in quickly!
Sad to see, DA wins again...
Rob

Before folks complain, I suggest you spend some time learning about the enemy and take an introductory class in marketing. Grinding through the riveting text book, "The Psychology of The consumer" was enlightening and showed me that marketing people are delusional, have no grip on reality and concerned only with profit. When they get a stranglehold on a company that has a soul, you can be assured that it won't last long.
The Poserverse and Dazville would be best served by going the way of the game mod communities where folks make levels and tools for various games out of a love of being creative, not for money. As much as I love playing in both Poser and Daz3D I may just go back to game modding (Half Life II). There was none of this greed driven garbage. The recent attempt on Steam to monetize the mods was met with an almost violent backlash and they backed off immediately. Maybe that's what we need here?

Kazam561 ( ) posted Wed, 19 August 2015 at 1:10 PM

kljpmsd, it's not marketing. It's many different things happening, including putting out a website change that makes things non-functional and buggy. No one in their right mind would do that for marketing reasons. On the getting funds in advance and then making changes against those promises, well, that just a way to lose business. I saw the Steam fiasco. Valve was a great company that used to make memorable games. Now it only sells games, and occasionally buys and rebrands things (tweaking). They saw the amount of money Riot games was making and decided they wanted a cut. Now they get a ton from their MOBA, but any other game IP's they own have suffered greatly in lack of real development. Had they simply continued to develop their own properties they probably would have earned the amount from the MOBA. Think about it. L4d predated most of the zombie craze. They easily could have pioneered the field and gotten fat off it with variants. The same can be said of Half-Life (speaking about breaking promises on selling episodes at a faster rate than putting out a finished game). Half-Life could have easily topped Call of Duty before COD even came out. And many others.... Sure Valve makes money, a ton, but the Valve that was is long gone, and the chances for greatness are gone too. Valve is Apple now. Apple music copying Spotify and others. Not to bash Apple, but Tim Cook no Steve Jobs and has never been an innovator.

yup, the new site is buggy, completely re-arranged so as to make navigation difficult to impossible, and the whole prime price of $3.50 thing is just a memory for anything you might actually want. Thanks, Renderosity. Just when things seem stable and we have become accustomed to the foibles of your last web developer induced disaster you decide to screw up your site again.

I do not care to have my life story or any unnecessary information on a site that caused me to have my credit card re-issued 3, count'em, 3 times last spring. maybe if you spent more work on securing your store instead creating useless, unneeded, bells and whistles you could have prevented such occurrences. As it was it took you over 2 months to fix that issue.

I know you will not return to the old site format no matter how badly screwed up this new format is (who cares what the customers want, full speed ahead!).

I barely do social media and I am not interested in expanding that usage to a site that drops unpleasant surprises on customers. I will probably figure out how to use this site much as I used the old one, all the new features do not interest me and will sit unused in my account so will be a waste of your time and resources.

thanks for letting me rant

Kazam561 ( ) posted Wed, 19 August 2015 at 8:54 PM

It certainly makes raising prime items to $4.50 more tolerable if they had kept the website usable. Right now you can't even see the proper prime prices. If you wanted to purchase one of the remaining items at $3.50 you have to check every single item to find them. Way to go Renderosity. Remember this group of customers are the only ones speaking. Many, many will silently go elsewhere.

I went through the same problems as you jww1960. It was horribly inconvenient. Three times. It was very troublesome, especially after one replacement (caught by my bank) then I got notified four weeks later here after getting the new replacement, and had to go through the process of getting another one.

jww1960 ( ) posted Wed, 19 August 2015 at 9:10 PM

While it is good to have a place to vent, the reality is that Renderosity doesn't actually care a whit about the existing customer base.

they will fix the issues that interfere with them making money and abandon any other issues, forcing the user base to figure out work-arounds.

Then 12 to 18 months from now they will do it all over again.

but do not worry, for your entertainment, it almost time for the Genesis site, sorry, I mean DAZ, to screw their site up as well. Fun for everybody!

Hi, sadly website changes have broken many features. Do not expect repairs. There is no estimated time of repair. Staff have said they are trying to fix many problems but it's not happening quickly. Apologies I used google to translate.

Why,oh why would you change a site that was working so well ?.I have tried 4 times today to upload an image,i made sure that it complied with all of the new criteria-including the dreadful reduction in max size to 1200 px wide (WHY !),and when i click upload it goes to a blank page and sits there 'till i close it.
My home page with my photo and personel info has gone, avatars no longer show up on comments. The site is very slow,as all the ads etc load.
Not a good move in my opinion.

EyeOfTheBeholder ( ) posted Sun, 23 August 2015 at 10:15 AM

Hi,
Having spent the last couple of days using the new set up i thought i would update the above comment.
I am not too bothered by the changes to the home&whats new pages,as i tend to go straight to the sections i like and look for the new posts there.I like the way that the full size image opens on the same page as thumbnail-much quicker. All my gallery images have now returned, but have been auto reduced to the new size.I have been able to upload new images without any problem, which is great.
My main complaint is still with the new size restrictions,as creator of mainly landscapes most of my work is going to end up being about 600 high, the loss of detail visible at that size is quite dramatic,as is the overall effect of the artwork.I really hope that you decide to find another way around this.I would also like to see the avatars alongside image comments again,it is much easier to spot a favorite avatar than go through a list of names.
Best regards
Paul

Thank you so much for removing the size restrictions.

adorety ( ) posted Mon, 24 August 2015 at 1:36 PM

In settings, I tried to add a new avatar. It says 200x200 dimensions. I created an image that size and saved it as small as 4kb and it still will not upload. When I hit update public it reverts to no file chosen. Needs a fix perhaps?

adorety ( ) posted Mon, 24 August 2015 at 1:41 PM

Also, what are "Live Notifications"? I am not receiving any email/ebots for artist uploads. It looks like that feature is now history. So it seems I have to browse through the whole activity feed to find who has posted their artwork. That is cumbersome and goes against human nature for easy access. If you are wishing to reduce the community aspect of the site and discourage people from enjoying each others' artwork, then you may be succeeding very quickly.

Papa Johns recently tried a total site change like Rendo. It was ugly and not very user friendly, like Rendo. IT DID NOT LAST as they reverted back to their previous design. Papa John LISTENED to their customers. Come on Rendo, can you do the same?

adorety ( ) posted Wed, 02 September 2015 at 2:18 PM

It took a while but the Avatar changed and I see Activity Feed is where to see who's posted what. I just can't tell if the activity feed is accurate for all who I follow or if people are just not posting much anymore. I do like the new gallery's less restrictions. Larger sizes and plenty of room to add a description or story chapter. Admins here are listening. It is what it is now. Sudden and drastic change can be upsetting so a beta/test mirror site might have been a good idea before dumping all this on us. I like some of the improvements and am not as thrilled with others (I did actually like the ebots) and there is no artist page anymore, unless I'm missing something. I did like having an artist page to feature an image and offer a bio, but I will adapt if I can. I'm up in the air about Prime. I'm a bit put off by the price increase of prime items when I paid for one thing and am now getting another. I guess time will tell with that as well. Overall I am cautious, but optimistic.

I think little tiny changes are happening. It'll never be as grand and nice as it used to be... but tiny concessions help. As far as beta testing, they stated they beta tested in another thread using vendors. I think either vendors simply said "everything is fine" without looking or somebody's really, really bad at implementing changes. One would think they would have had the staff give the test beta a week of going over after the "beta testers" finished to look for bugs. As it stands, I think they need independent beta testers. We're going on two months of being changed and to still have a buggy website that is this big and a business is not good.

New site gives me a headache just looking at it. Whomever designed it needs to be fired. I may not spend much here, but I'll spend even less now. Good bye Renderosity.

And it looks like they did a partnership with DAZ3D. All I see now are G3F items in the marketplace. Thank God! Sort of... now I can concentrate on buying off my wishlist without actually adding anything else to it. When the wishlist is gone...I am afraid so will Renderosity be..

Looking at the push for G3/V7 and you'd think sales at both websites were huge. Reading the forums at both websites reveals that customers who got G3/V7 were disappointed at the change in certain design aspects. Apparently the muscle structure is the biggest complaint. Honestly if G3/V7 (and I'm not a Daz Studio user) weren't so expensive I'd consider it. Morph package for body, for face, and another facial expression, in addition to the base figure, and an HD version... not including clothing, kind of almost the price of buying another piece of software. Price creeping is going on everywhere. I do have to say with the money I saved in not buying stuff I got a kindle :)
