Subject: Updates Thread

KimberlyC ( ) posted Sat, 22 August 2015 at 1:15 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 5:37 AM

Just an update on where we are today (Friday 8/21):

The site security notices from your browsers may happen on a few pages outside of the Marketplace, but the security is really only important in the Marketplace and we are working to fix those notices on the community pages. It's a bit of work since we converted the entire site to https, but some images or ads were uploaded as http on our old site and it can take some time to correct those as we come across them.

The artist homepage links now go to the proper place.

FreeStuff button/links have been fixed.

White pages/upload issues should all be resolved now.

The premium tutorials/videos are all working again.

Profile Avatars and the date picker in the profile are working again, too.

And, ebots should be fixed. If you are missing ebots still, please let us know which specific ones you are missing (forum, wishlist, etc)

The gallery image size allowance will be updated soon to allow 4000x4000 full size images (like the old site). But please remember that those large images will still be re-sized for the gallery page layout and members will have to click on them to see the full size (and likely have to do a bit of scrolling). We are also going to bring back the ability to auto-create a thumbnail for you. That may be several business days before we can get that working well. Many of the auto-create thumbnails from the old site are some of the fuzzy thumbs that members have been complaining about, and members are encouraged to update those.

We didn't remove gallery images, but it took a while a move them all over and some may still not be displaying properly if the original full size was over the 1200x1500. We are working on that and hope to have those properly displaying the larger image sizes soon.

Writer's gallery has been updated to allow 25,000 characters.

Chat will be back (probably next week) but it was not technically compatible with our new back-end servers/software and is getting worked on. There are a lot of little things being worked on and already resolved.

Please continue to send us links and screenshots of any weirdness you encounter, and we will be glad to look into it and fix bugs. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding while get the kinks worked out.

The Galleries are shaping up nicely, back to 4000x4000 File size limit I'm not sure but it's BIG I haven't been able to reach it yet @ 2.14meg I love it, Full Image view is back, even the Recommended Gallery mixes the images up now instead of always the same thing. Everything is not perfect by far but a whole lot better than it has been all week......Good Job 👍

Yup, not losing any sleep over the new Rendo look and feel, to be perfectly honest.

Bless you. Keep up the good work!

Oh ... e-bots ... nope. I haven't received a single e-bot telling me I've got a comment or that a favorite artist has posted. Those things seem to be showing up okay on the activity report and notifications, but no bots.

still no ebots other than that keep up the good work, site has indeed improved over the last 48 hours!!well done.

bodo_56 ( ) posted Sun, 23 August 2015 at 5:28 AM

Things got a lot better, indeed! Now on to this unspeakable, endlessly scrolling gallery page ...

CavalierLady ( ) posted Sun, 23 August 2015 at 6:49 AM

I haven't received a single ebot either - only emails about Renderosity's Marketplace which I have no need for.
The only place that I see avatars is here in the forum. I see no avatars on any of the gallery pages or beside any of the image comments.
The gallery page is still very slow to load for me on Firefox and waiting for the scrolling gallery page is even slower.

The Ebot thing was addressed here by BWsupport
https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/?thread_id=2892829&page_number=6

Question from member: I no longer get post notifications for the artists I'm following. What am I supposed to do now, manually search each artists gallery??

BWsupport reply: It is actually a lot easier now, this is the exact point of your activity feed.
The activity feed shows you the updates of all users you are following site wide. Good LUCK!

Has the issue of multiple vendor listing in the Gallery been fixed? I could only get one vendor out of six to post yesterday. Also the search mechanism for the vendors is AWFUL. I tried to find SAV and spent 3 minutes having to scroll down the entire list of vendors because "SAV, Studio, StudioArt, Studio Art, and Studio Art Var" did not bring her up in the search window and there is no way to jump to the end. Lastly I'm am getting no ebots for Favorite Artist's posts, my own posts or any other kind of post.

Je ne comprends rien !

Roco43 ( ) posted Sun, 23 August 2015 at 7:34 PM

Great to see that the image format is back to 4000px & writers up 25,000 words... However, site needs more work... I get advertising emails from Rendo but no comments or postings emails of the artists I'm following....Don't like the activity feed idea as it means you have to sign in to see if there are postings or comments.....Still missing around 60,000 views.... These will need to be fixed before I return to Rendo....

Roco43 ( ) posted Sun, 23 August 2015 at 11:40 PM

Also, please fix the upload page so that if your image is rejected for some reason you don't lose all the time consuming information that you have previously entered before pressing the upload or preview button...This is soooooo frustrating.

Thank you guys! I have taken note of your issues and suggestions! :)

Still getting NO ebots. Not for comments or new uploads from artists I'm following. All I get are marketplace notifications now and then. Hope you get this fixed soon - really miss them. Thanks for your hard work.

Rod, favorite artist etc ebots are now located on your Activity Feed. You will no longer receive a notification by email. :)

you can't mention or quote the first post in a thread, the buttons are not there... (checked a lot of threads to make sure)

KimberlyC ( ) posted Mon, 24 August 2015 at 11:38 AM

Thanks for bringing that up Khai :)

If eboots are not in Notifications, then no need to have eboots... Before it was simple: eboots were for our notifications AND other artists. Now, your system is like to cut the family on the site.

"Rod, favorite artist etc ebots are now located on your Activity Feed. You will no longer receive a notification by email. :)"

Well, that pretty much put the final nail in the coffin..... :-( We'll see how it works, but I'm not seeing a lot to entice me to stay... :-(

So, Kimberly, where do I see when someone I'm following posts a new image?? There are NO notifications for this that I've been able to see - and I know several of my favorite artists have posted things. I've found them by just scrolling through the gallery page. I just don't have time to scroll through the endless gallery page to see who has uploaded something. Are we not going to get these notifications any more? I'm looking hard for reasons to stay here, but I'm nearing a point of no return.

Oh, I see Len's post.... Activity Feed..... OK, I see them now. Got it... Frankly, I liked the ebots a LOT better, but I suppose that's not compatible with your back end, either. This is kind of a pain in MY back end, but I'll try it for a while.... :-(

KimberlyC ( ) posted Tue, 25 August 2015 at 12:11 AM

I'm glad you understand Rod. Sorry if I was a bit confusing.

The issue also comes down to many members felt their email box was getting blown up by notifications. That was a big complaint regarding too many emails. :)
