Subject: Returning To Poser

I haven't used Poser 7 for a couple years. Now I have Poser 9 installed and I am manually installing my characters. I have Victoria 4 installed, however I am installing Victoria 4 Morphs and in the Libraries it has !DAZ in both Victoria 4 and Victoria 4 morphs and in there is a folder named the same Victoria 4 for both. I can't remember what to do in this case. I need both folders for Victoria and her morphs to work. Also, I can't get the exe files to install. I need to be reading something on installing content. TIA, Kitty

you could just point your Poser 9 runtime to your Poser 7 runtime and not have to reinstall anything......
Do you know how to do that?

Andy, unfortunately, I had to have the computer re formatted and am starting all over. Kitty

OK... Daz has re issued all the Generation 4 installers as zip files.... I know that's going to be a pain to download them all agian....
But when you unzip, everything should go to the right place without you're having to move anything! It's DAZ's job to get the installers correct!

I would recommend using the DAZ DIM (Download Install Manager) to install those ZIPs. I cannot verify this bit of information, but I have seen a post regarding initialization and DIM. Apparently, DIM automatically initializes the V4/M4 base and all morphs associated with them. Again, I cannot swear by this but if it is true, it's just another step you can skip unless you install manually.

Wow, I am striking out all over the place here. I have had these for a long time, and they are not zips and I don't use DIM and never have. I install manually and want to do that now. Thanks for the suggestions. Kitty

I have another question about V6 & M6 folders this time. Here is an example of the folder names: CreatureCreatorforGenesis2Males and CreatureCreatorForGenesis2MalesPoserCF. Those are the 2 folders. Which folder is for DAZ and which folder is for Poser? Like I said earlier I am just getting back in Poser and these are new to me, the figures and the folders. I do know that I have to have DSON installed to use the G2 figures and their things. Thanks, Kitty

The PoserCF zip is for Poser and should go into a proper Poser Runtime folder. The other file is for DAZStudio only. It is advisable to keep those folder types separate although they can be merged if you manually and carefully place the necessary files into their appropriate places. Personally, I prefer separate arrangements, easier to organize and keep track. Remember, for DSON to work properly, add the DAZ content folder to the Poser Library. You won't see the DAZ content but DSON needs a reference point to import the figures, clothing, hair and props.

Thank you so much. I thought that is how they were but I needed to make sure. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. And also I did not know about adding the DAZ content folder. Wow, I am learning and have a lot to still learn. Kitty
