While on the subject of thumbnails... I have discovered something I haven't seen mentioned, or if it has been, I have probably missed it.
I wanted to start uploading new thumbs (my gallery is small) at the new size of 500x500 to take advantage of the increased sharpness. I did so on one of my images to test things out.
But when going to the product page for a credited item, the thumbnail is now gone. So I am definitely holding off on updating thumbs until either that has been fixed or something else happens like maybe the size will be changed still. Just a heads up to vendors and others who would want their thumbnails to appear in product galleries.
This image shows what happens under the Gallery tab on the product page after uploading a new thumbnail:

It's been interesting watching my gallery last night and today. As time goes on, my thumbnails are getting gradually replaced by auto generated thumbnails from the entire image. This seems to be a process that is gradually replacing the thumbnails on increasingly older images. Many of my images that had perfectly good TOS compliant thumbs, are now out of compliance through no fault of my own. In fact, the entire gallery now probably has thousands of non compliant thumbs.
As Kalypso mentioned, I do hope that we aren't held responsible for replacing the thumbnails which are now out of compliance with the TOS with compliant images (though I could do it, it would be extremely difficult for those with hundreds of images). I also hope the plan isn't to replace all the out of compliance thumbnails with those totally uninspiring "Content Advisory" thumbs.

personally, i would just like the galleries to go back to having thumbnails all of a consistent size, say 300x200, and if it were smaller, your thumb floated in that 300x200 space, and the galleries looked much more organised and easier on the eyes.
i am not one who suffers from migraines or any medical issues, like those who have reported already about the layout nightmare. however, i'm not a spring chicken either, and trying to track image titles, the constant roving around and constant re-focusing that is now required of them, does leave them feeling more strained and tired.
The gallery is still being transferred over. You will start seeing major image quality improvements over the next few days. Any thumbs that had a smaller width than 300px will use a scaled version of the main image so it is not extremely blurry. During the next week, we will also be implementing auto thumb resizing, so that on upload a thumbnail is not required. When clicking the contains 'violence', 'language', or 'nudity' this should pertain to the image not the thumb.
@Frequency good catch, the issue should be fixed.
Thank you!
Unfortunately, now it is all gone. That is, I can't see any credited images at all on my product pages. On anyone's product pages for that matter.
Perhaps this is a temporary issue?
My gallery still seems to exist though, together with vendor product credits I've added.

The new, non-blurry autogenerated thumbnails are looking great for me though. :)

So... here is a screenshot of what it looks like now. Images crediting a product are no longer showing up under the Gallery tab on product pages.
I can still see those images in the actual gallery, and also see that the product has been credited.

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity
I'm still wondering what will be the policy for all of the thumb nails that no longer comply with the TOS. In case I haven't been clear about what my question is really about, I attached a couple of examples below. The first image shows the first page of my gallery where all thumbnails did not show any nudity, like those in the top part of the image of my gallery. But now, any thumbs that weren't large enough (in the bottom portion of the image) have been replaced with a auto-generated thumbnails of the entire image that now shows nudity.
The second image is of Fand's Gallery, All of the thumbnails on this page were in compliance before they were auto-replaced via the site upgrade process.
So, my questions are:
I would hope that it will be the first option I mentioned. For me, replacing all of my thumbnails would be a pain, but doable since I only have a little over 50 images total. But for those, like Fand, who have hundreds of images, that would be a huge undertaking, one that would probably result with many (most) artists deciding to remove (ot let you remove) their images.
TIA for your response.

MistyLara, what a fantastic idea! RO could have a vendor section for artists selling high resolution artwork under a license. I think you should create a new thread about this to see what the interest in this might be among artists and also email staff about it. :D

I would be 100% interested in that, both as an artist and as a vendor.

So, my questions are:
- Is Renderosity going to let these now TOS non-compliant thumbnails remain as is, sort of like what was done when older images with nudity in the thumbnails were allowed to remain when the TOS changed several years back?
- Are you going to require that everyone fix their thumbnails or their images will be removed?
- Are you (Renderosity) going to auto replace the auto-generated thumbs with that rather uninspiring generic Content Advisory thumbnail?
- Or will there be a policy that I haven't mentioned?

Hi DustRider-- We have a feature on the site where you can "filter" out naked images. If you've unchecked this box, the "content advisory" is not over the naked picture. If you don't wish to see the naked photo, please "edit your profile," click on "gallery" and "filter thumbnails of items containing nudity?" If this changes, we'll let you know. Once you check this box, please let us know if you can still see the photos of naked women or if these photos are replaced with "Content Advisory."

Thanks Hope!
They don't bother me, I was just concerned that my thumbnails were now out of compliance with the TOS. I must have missed a change to the Gallery TOS where thumbnails with nudity are now allowed.
Thanks again!

Most of my current images have not had anything changed and their thumbs were also left unaffected by the change (they were mostly 300x200 so I guess that's why).
However, the older stuff does not have the original thumbs I made but has the whole image resized. I hardly ever had the whole image as a thumb so I can immediately see that the older thumbs must have got lost in the shuffle.
I, personally, don't mind but I'm afraid my gallery is now against TOS as all those resized images that had nudity now show nudity in the thumbs as well - unless something has changed and nudity is now allowed. I don't expect to get a warning or get penalized in any way for that as I am not the one who uploaded those thumbs. But, to go searching through backups to find all the thumbs I've posted in the past 15 years is something I will not be doing. I hope this doesn't mean our images will be taken down.
Furthermore, on the upload page it clearly states the maximum for a thumb is 500 px and yet I have a resized (by you) thumb that is 290x580 pixels. With thumbs that size that show the entire image I doubt many people will click to see the image as they can get a quick idea just by scrolling through the thumbs.
The huge ad is still present on the right of our images so is that something that will definitely remain? Because if so, it is really a disservice to the artists who post. At least consider moving it further down so it doesn't interfere with the viewing of the image. And no, viewing in full size does nothing to make up for that as roughly 1/10 of the viewers viewed images in full size as I was able to ascertain when we had this information made available to us with the previous gallery. Most just see the compressed version.
I realize that your priority is the marketplace but don't forget how many vendors are paying promo artists to showcase their products in the galleries. Here's a thought: instead of the huge ad on the right why don't you have the vendor credits thumbs appear there instead of in between our image and the comments?
