Subject: Poser Pro 2014 sale - Worth it?

ACue ( ) posted Thu, 10 September 2015 at 4:05 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 9:42 AM

Am thinking of the sidegrade from Poser 10. Question: can I run both Poser 10 and Pro 2014 on same machine? Looking for significantly enhanced rendering times with 64-bit program. ( although hoping update to Reality 4 will bring significant improvements ). Thoughts? Advice?

ACue, you will see a very significant performance jump with Reality in a few days. I never saw Pose Pro at this price and this is a fantasy I opportunity to get Poser at 64 bits. 32 bit computing is just too limiting.

Cheers.

Totally worth it. However, be aware that the next version of Poser could be out later this year or next year. Still can't beat the price of the sale, and it'll help you learn the program. If and when the next version of Poser comes out there will be an upgrade price (that's cheaper than the full price). I'm betting with the current sale, and the upgrade price (when it comes) will still save you money over buying the newest version. A good program at a great price either way.

The dust settled, thinking "what a fine home, at least for now" not realizing that doom would soon be coming in the form of a vacuum cleaner.

This version of Poser was a dream for me to get. I saved and saved ... and was not disappointed! Between the fitting room and the improvements in the material room. (not sure what P14 has that P10 doesn't, but yes, it's totally worth it!) Unfortunately there is no comparison chart at SM at the moment to give details. I just recall that I didn't want to get P10, I wanted Pro. 😄

RENDER ON!!

Here's the feature comparison matrix for versions back to Poser 7 (Poser 6 is still eligible for upgrade, too)

There is no render enhancement in going from 32 bit to 64 bit, per say. It will affect how much you can have in your scene though. There are quite a few better reasons to go with 64 bit though. (For example how much you can have in your scene. :) )

To answer this "Question: can I run both Poser 10 and Pro 2014 on same machine?"

The answer is yes you should be able to run different versions of Poser on the same machine. I am currently running Poser 6, PP2012 and PP2014 with no problem.

Can I take a scene already created in poser 10 and load it easily into PoserPro 14

Poser 10 and PP2014 are virtually the same, so yes, you can easily open the scene in both versions.

All Poser scenes can be loaded into Pro14. Also, because they are both forward and backward compatible they can be loaded into earlier versions of Poser too.

Thanks all. I took the deal and am happy with my purchase. Have noticed appreciable render speed improvement with side by side render of same scene between Poser 10 and Pro.
