I believe maelwenn's Emma at DAZ is a custom body, but am pretty sure maelwenn's other characters there use Morphs++...

The custom sculpt (set at 0.8) can be found in the "Community Channel" PBMCC_01 of the individual body parts (no master parameter in the BODY provided). So I don't think she's a perfect subject for Morkonan's studies.
Actually, I think most commercial characters are primarily dial-spun for conveniance of the creator. I mean, why invent the wheel twice if there's a morph which can do "nearly" what you want, and you only have to give it an extra pass with the morph brush?
I think that's the real secret of efficient character building: Use what prefabricated morphs there are, then use the morph brush to achieve exactly what you want.
At least it's much more efficient than creating everything from scratch, and dealing with all the pitfalls of morph creation (like sorting calculation order and much more).

Most characters have dial-spun bodies to make it easier for the customer to use clothing. Most clothing only contains the morphs for the standard morph packages, so if you use a custom body morph, fitting can be a problem.
DreaminGirl - That's another very important point! Especially if people use P10 without the option of "copying morphs" into the clothing.

Very true.
However, some fixes can be achieved with magnet sets and some vendors provide them. As long as the conforming clothing doesn't include off-named groups, they can work fairly effectively. But, of course, they probably won't work well for tight-fitting clothing. Some vendors also include morphs for custom-sculpted figures. (GND and, IIRC, PBIV have third-party vendors who have included morphs for them.)
But, programs like Morphing Clothes and others make standard V4 clothing available for custom sculpts. It just takes a bit of time, fiddling around and patience to get good results. If something like Morphing Clothes had a "lite" version, with more "One-Button Solution" features, but less customizability, and sold at a commensurately lesser price, of course, it would probably open up things a bit for custom sculpts for users of older versions of Poser. (I am not familiar with how newer versions of Poser do the "morph transfers" to clothing that I keep hearing about in their "Fitting Room" thingies... When I get a chance to upgrade, I will be, though. :) )

Remember that most of these Custom Body Morphs came out in in while Poser 7 was the most current Poser. While many of the tools were there, they were not as complete as they are now. They are also not mainstream for customer use, even today.

Yup. And I'm guessing a fairly large part of the customer base are still using Poser 7 or possibly even older, and a lot of the tools we get with the newer versions aren't available to them still.

True. But, there are companion tools and scripts available. It just makes adding custom morphs to assets a bit more complicated. (And, a little more expensive, I suppose.) For myself, the first time I ran Poser I knew that I wanted to create my own content for it. So, these days, seeing a "custom body morph" for anything that's out there piques my interest. Custom face morphs are popular because anyone can spot a dial-spun V4 face from a mile away. Plus, there is no easy way to rig full-face masks nor, in fact, is there much reason to. Beards are the exception, and there aren't many of those at all because of how difficult and time-consuming it would be to produce a product worth buying. (Has anyone produced a "Make Beard" button? For any figure? :) )
Anyway, still watching for custom morphs. So, if anyone runs across any, a link would be appreciated! (I can do them, myself, but I always like to see how people have solved certain V4 issues and what they've managed to do with the mesh/rigging.)

LOL! No. :) But, M4 is the same mesh as V4 with the same basic rigs, so I tend to talk about them interchangeably. To me, they're the same basic figure. Except for the jiggly bits and a few other things.

I'm looking for V4 characters with custom body sculpts. It doesn't matter the type of morph, but only that they're "original", by the artist, and don't use or require Morphs++. (IF they use Morph++ as a base, but also contain original morphs/work/tuning, that's fine, too. But, I would prefer that all or at least most of the body sculpt is original.)
I know of AS, Adam Thwaites, the GND character and there are are a few on ShareCG as well as an entire custom morph pack, but I'd like to pick your collective brain(s) for others. :)
Artist/Character/Links would be much appreciated!
(I do my own, but I want to see what others have done and, unfortunately, not every artist might specify that there are hand-crafted body morphs in their work.)
