Subject: about old blender system required

atpo ( ) posted Tue, 15 December 2015 at 11:33 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 7:03 AM

I want to know that old

blender system

required,espacially graphic

card(navida or ati hd) and

opengl,before 2.70. I now use 2.69.

By the way,I always used zip

installed file that is ok in pc? As you know exe installed file

that needed to be installed

into pc system. Though no harm to pc,it is

easy to use zip installed file. thanks.

Not sure I understand the question. However, it raises another question: is there a particular reason you are still using 2.69? You're missing out on a lot of very compelling features... and there's actually better support for a wider range of graphic cards (I believe ATI is either supported now or will be supported soon!).

Oh, and since I don't run Windows, I'm not installing using an .exe. However, even when I ran Blender in Windows, I used to just download the zip and run it from:

I'm with RobynsVeil in questioning your attachment toward the 2.69 release. If it has something to do with the way the hotkeys or UI are configured in that release, keep in mind you can customize things to behave almost entirely the same way, with just a little extra effort. Considering all of the add-ons and bug fixes instituted in the 2.7x generation, I'd highly recommend upgrading, and getting used to using, the latest version.

the older versions of blender used less intense versions of graphics cards and memory, i still use 2.49 for modelling and take that into the newer versions for sculpting and matting. older versions were simple to me and they are what i learned on so they are my comfort level.

Well, whatever works for your own personal workflow is perfectly fine, of course. I might still encourage getting to know the newer versions at your own pace, because there have been a tremendous amount of improvements instituted since 2.49 that could greatly enhance your modeling speed, and ability to produce more complex geometry in less time. However, if you're happy with that version, and it still fits your needs, then no one should discourage you from that.

Hey guys, thanks. I used 2.69 now but I find that when rotating camera which is not so smoothly. And I find that higher blender version higher pc system required. And on blender.org,blender 7x and later must need pc system is very high and so same with GRaphic card.
