Subject: Mesh & joint fixes to Renderosity products

DeepRed ( ) posted Mon, 21 December 2015 at 5:28 AM · edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 11:36 AM

Following advice in a previous forum post, I've done some fixes to the joints and OBJ meshes of a few RPublishing/Vanishing Point vehicles to address mesh tearing and stretching issues in DAZ Studio 4.x - namely the following products:

Normally I'd post the modified files in the Freestuff section for buyers of the above products, but there are some issues to clear up first. They require the OBJ files to be overwritten for the fixes to work, and the meshes are under copyright by their respective creators. I've previously contacted Renderosity staff directly about the mesh fixes I've done, but haven't received a response so far. Can anyone clear things up regarding intellectual property and Rendo's terms and conditions?

I have asked someone that would know more about this to come look at this thread. Please give just a bit. :)

From your description, it's hard to tell if you're saying that your modified obj would be distributed. If so, that means "new users" could buy the product and use without owning the original and that goes against the licensing. If that is what you meant, you need to contact RPublishing to see about working out distribution arrangements with them (rpublishing@renderosity.com).

IF that isn't what you mean, then can you explain in more detail exactly how your files work?

Yes, the new modified OBJ files would be distributed, since modifications were made directly to them. I haven't figured out how to make it so that only CR2 or DUF files would be needed without the OBJs. In any case, the meshes have been tested in both DAZ Studio 4.8 and Poser 2012 and have passed the test. As mentioned in the opening post though, the Veepster car still has some mesh glitching with the rear movements.

So at this stage, the least worst solution might be to send the modified OBJs directly to Renderosity, who can then evaluate the OBJs and apply the updates as needed.

Modified OBJ files are not allowed to be re-distributed. Please contact RPublishing at the rpublishing@renderosity.com email address so that you can work out something directly with RPublishing.
