Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 27 5:12 pm)
Please let us know if & when Microsoft's next update fixes that.
Fortunately, I still have Win 7 Pro x64 on my workstation and have no desire to upgrade until I'm absolutely forced to. Win 8 and 10 were and are spyware. Why do you think they're free but you still have to pay tor Win 7?
However, if you have Win 10, consider these free applications...
(a) "O&O Shutup" will let you control what info is being sent to MS... http://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10
(b) "Classic Shell" will return your GUI to one you'll be familiar with if you use a real desktop computer and don't want the interface of a mobile pad... http://www.classicshell.net/
I have a mixture of Windows 7 on my machines, both home and ultimate and have no intention of moving away until I absolutely have to. I do not like the enforced updates of Windows 10 or the default settings of Microsoft getting your info. In fact if Microsoft keep going down this path I will be looking at any and all possible alternatives before I go Windows again, and that is not from a Microsoft hater, I am just happier with Windows 7, at least I have some control.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

After you uninstall it this tool from microsoft can help you stop unwanted updates for Win 10:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930
Thanks EAQS. I hope this works until the fix comes from either Microsoft or Smith Micro despite my efforts to reschedule the reinstall, the machine kept rebooting on its own to reinstall... without warning. Three unannounced reboot in six hours. Lost some work. Hope the Fix isn't too far away. Linux is looking better all the time.

it does mess up poser 10 and poser 9 on my machine but working now that update is uninstalled
Yeah, but after some days Win10 will reinstall KB3132372, so the dance will go on. Actually reinstalling can be stopped by this feature, but anyway, flash actually has security issues, and I am not sure if this also refers to the Poser 10 shell, too. So, a Poser fix (or a Win 10 update fix) would be more appropriate than this little workaround.
As of 3PM CST Microsoft released KB3133431 purportedly to correct the problems caused by KB3132372.... it installed itself and, by George, Poser 10 is working just fine. Let us know if it's working for everyone. Maybe the Fix is already here. Now my question is... Since I uninstalled KB3132372 and hid it from the updater, and previous versions of windows could be very sensitive about what order updates were installed in...do I need to go back and unhide it, install it and re install KB3133431 over that??? Maybe not? Does anyone know the answer?

I can confirm this. The problem caused by Win 10 KB3132372 appears to be resolved with Win 10 KB3133431 released today and currently available.
Today the resent released Hotfix was installed on my PC. Unfortunately with no success! The same situation is given:
Windows 10 with both Hotfix installed (KB3132372, KB3133431), Poser Pro 11, reinstalled and installed again, click on icon let the clock start, but after 5 seconds the opening of Poser stopped.
I'm not sure whether all the repairs, uninstall and install procedures confused my Windows now.
Poser Pro 2014 has stopped working on my PC since the update, the program won't even start. Poser 11 Pro is working fine, but that is irritating as running 2 instances of Poser was helpful for animations.
EDIT: Squeaky wheel! looks like there was some kind of fix last night when it updated, Pro 2014 is working again.

UPDATE: Poser 2014 Pro is running again, afer the reinstallation. Poser 11 PRO is all quiet and doesn't leave any "beep". Is there any logfile or something else with further information why Poser 11 doesn't start without any error-message? I have checked the firewall settings. Poser 11 isn't blocked.
Yes Poser 2014 works again after the latest patch and so do other software which were affected (incredimail for one). I did not reinstall the KB3132327 but only the KB3133434 update. Poser Pro 11 was never affected by this update and thus the troubles that you, kruse, are having must come from somewhere else. Maybe you should install it unto a different drive or location and then launch it from within that directory. Run the Poser exe directly from the directory and not from a thumbnail once installed. Also make sure you install the latest version as there has been an update since release. I know it sounds all a bit lousy but maybe worth a try. I also vaguely remember having had issues with an update concerning the preferredstate.pz3 which prevented it from launching but I don't want to give you false information. Did you set a preferred state or are you always launching with Andy? When you uninstall Poser, it never goes completely off your system and those remnants could cause issues, especially if on launch it calls up old memory and can't find what it is looking for. When you re-install I suggest overwriting your preferences when applying SR1.

Hi Levanah,
I'm sure; this isn't the right thread for my problem and I have to start deeper investigations on this issue. I have already tried all what you suggested with no success. I'm going to try this "Andy-thing" and hope for a better result. Fortunately I can use Poser 2014 until my problem is solved.
Thanks a lot Matthias
Timeline of events on my computer. I have Windows 10 Home and Poser 10.

2 Jan 2016: For the last time I used my Poser 10 successfully.
3 Jan 2016: For the first time my Poser 10 crashed out on starting as described here: notice the 4-day delay after the first time that KB3132372 came.
3 Jan 2016: I enquired on Renderosity Poser forum and followed advice there and uninstalled KB3132372
3 Jan 2016 later same day: I shut my computer down and restarted it, and my Poser 10 still crashed out on start.

8 Jan 2016 c.6 am Greenwich Mean Time: My Poser 10 (version 10.0.0.24941) still refused to work. PLEASE what else can I try to get my Poser working???? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Poser 10 again? Or must I change to Poser 11? Or what?

Try 1st to rename the Poser.ini and if that doesnt work, rename the LibraryPrefs.xml, in former version of Poser this was helpful
I have just tried both and the fault still comes. I have now renamed these files back to their old names. These files are in C:/Users/Anthony/AppData/Roaming/Poser/10 (where / should be backslash),

You can safely delete everything that is in that folder; C:/Users/Anthony/AppData/Roaming/Poser/10 => Poser will build a new set on it's next start-up.
I have just done that, and then I closed my computer down and restarted it, then I called Poser 10. The contents of C:/Users/Anthony/AppData/Roaming/Poser/10/ duly came back. And the Poser 10 crash-out bug duly came back.
Is there any point me uninstalling and reinstalling my Adobe Flash? If so, where can I get an up-to-date valid copy of it from, and how to install it? I have Windows 10 Home.

OK, sorry it didn't work out and I sure hope you can find a solution for the problem...Let me know if you crack it as I would be interested :-)
Thanks God, Poser 11 is running again. Again I have uninstalled Poser 11, deleted folder C:ProgramDataPoser11 and C:UsersAppDataRoamingPoser11 started a reboot and reinstalled Poser 11 again. Then I was asked to enter the serialnumber and Poser is opening again.
I am still having the bug: see https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/?thread_id=2898140 . Please is there any date estimate of when a correct proper update or patch for Adobe Flash will come???
That thread was advice in the file Poser.ini from LIBRARY_IS_AIR 0 to LIBRARY_IS_AIR 1 , to make it use Adobe Air. But always something changed it back to LIBRARY_IS_AIR 0 , and my Poser 10 exited on startup as usual. I suspect that someone in charge of Poser 10 did not trust the result of Poser 10 running with Adobe AIR, so he put in a bit of program to look what LIBRARY_IS_AIR is set to in Poser.ini and change it to LIBRARY_IS_AIR 0 .

I find this helpful. The small GWX utility helps you configure your Windows 7 & 8 systems from downloading Windows 10 (4gb) and pther privacy settiings. Been running it for past month on Win 7 systems and finally, no interuptions during renders. http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/ GWX Utility at Ultimate Outsiders This is a free tool that can remove and disable the 'Get Windows 10' notification area icon on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The update (KB3132372). is a security fix for flash. but it effectively disables Poser 10 on my PC. You will get the "Poser has stopped working" window every time you try to load it. If you uninstall the update and reboot, Poser 10 will start working again.... warning. Windows will immediately want to reinstall the update, so be sure to set your update so you can schedule installation. All Win 10 will let you do is reschedule it for a few days, so you can delay this until another fix is in. Else, you will just have to keep un-installing the update until a work around is established. I do not know if Poser 11 is also affected.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a better work around? I'm not giving up poser. If it persists I'll just have to go back to Win 7.
